Mercedes-Benz DiesOtto

(27/07/2007) - Teknologi diesel mengalami lompatan besar, jauh dari gambaran diesel masa lalu. Sukses di Eropa, mesin diesel masih harus menghadapi tantangan di pasar terbesar di dunia, USA. Pasalnya, di sana sulit mencari bahan bakar diesel.

Mercedes-Benz punya solusi. Mereka mengembangkan teknologi mesin baru yang menggabungkan kelebihan diesel -torsi tinggi, efisien, ramah lingkungan- tapi berbahan bakar bensin unleaded biasa. Mercedes-Benz menyebut prototipe ini DiesOtto.

Prototipe ini adalah mesin 1.8 liter empat silinder yang menggunakan direct injection, variable compression, turbocharging dan sesuatu yang disebut Mercedes-Benz sebagai "controlled auto ignition" untuk memproduksi daya maksimal 238hp dan 205lb-ft torsi.

Mercedes-Benz mengklaim mesin ini hanya butuh 6liter bensin per100km. Angka itu, kata Mercedes-Benz- bukan saat mesin dipakai di sedan kecil tapi pada sedan besar yaitu S-Class. Mercedes-Benz belum mengungkapkan kapan mesin akan diproduksi

When starting and under full load, the fuel/air charge is ignited by a spark plug, as in a conventional spark-ignition (SI) engine. The switch to controlled auto ignition mode occurs under partial load conditions, i.e. at low and medium engine speeds.

Controlled auto ignition means Compression Ignition process.

Basicnya adalah tetap mesin Gasoline Direct Injection dgn Turbocharger, hanya pada situasi tertentu dia dapat berjalan dgn metode Compression Ignition, hal ini dimungkinkan karena model piston crownnya yg juga sgt. mirip dgn piston mesin Diesel, Injection timing control serta fitur Variable Compression ratio dimana mungkin saat beroperasi scr SI dan CI kondisi compression ratio-nya berbeda. CMIIW

Mari kita tunggu nanti penjelasan resmi dari pihak MB mengenai mekanisme kerja mesin yg sgt menarik ini.

Pihak Mercy emang sedang gencar mengembangkan sedan diesel,... lumayan bisa hemat BBM, dan kalo emang itu sukses maka akan mengurangi ketergantungan terhadap BBM dari Minyak Bumi... kan bisa pake minyak Jarak dan Kelapa Sawit ....

Sebenarnya thn 2000 di Geneva motor show , SAAB udah penah memamerkan mobil dgn engine dengan Variable Compretion Ratio. Kompresi mulai dari 1:8 s/d 1:15. Tapi engine tsb dirancang menggunakan Biopower (bukan gasoline murni).

Kalo MB udah mampu bikin engine yg sama (atau lebih canggih), tapi menggunakan bensin biasa itu kemajuan besar. Cuman yg bikin bingung gw, bensin apa yg mampu mencapai kompresi 1:15 bahkan lebih....? Jgn2 ntar harus pake Racing fuel yg harganya ratusan ribu per liter, baru bisa auto/compressed ignition. Bonyok jg dong kantong.. :D :D

bisa.
minyak goreng murni atau minyak jelantah (bukan biodiesel). Bisa dipakai di mobil diesel, dengan beberapa modifikasi.
Seperti perlunya pemanas, agar minyak tsb lebih gampang di kabutkan.

enak yah kl ngerti kimia.. bisa hemat bensin ato solar.. *liat di discovery channel jg*

Menurut artikel, bisa pake premium unleaded biasa tuh bos.

MODE MENGKHAYALKAN ITU MESIN CANGGIH ON

Kalo soal bisanya sih bisa aja pake premium biasa. Wong kompresi nya variable mulai dari kompresi rendah 1:8 (spark ignition). Tapi itu berarti ntar jalannya mesin persis sama dgn mesin konvensional (konvensional disini maksudnya udah canggih jg sih=Gasoline Direct Ignition). Karena kalo premium biasa berarti kompresi tinggi (1:16 ke atas, atau kompresi nya mesin diesel) nggak bakal pernah tercapai. Paling2 kompresi 1:9 udah meledak.

CMIIW, karna baru sebatas mengkhayal... :D

bukan minyak goreng, kalo sudah minyak goreng mah emang mahal sekarang, tapi dulu murahe euy, sekilo nggak sampek 5rb.

yang dipakai itu CPO-nya (Crude Palm Oil), itu sekilo sekitar seribu rupiah, kemudian diolah menjadi BIOfuel,...siap diminum ama mesin diesel, pernah penelitian dari minyak jelantah bisa dipake di mesin diesel, tapi disaring dulu... :wink:
