2006 US Camry : 7 Airbags Standard

The Toyota Camry, the best-selling car in America four years running and for eight of the past nine years, is completely redesigned for 2007. The world-class sedan redefines global standards for comfort, performance and design.

"With the new 2007 Camry, Toyota once again raises the bar for the family sedan," said Don Esmond, TMS senior vice president, automotive operations. "For more than two decades Camry has earned a reputation as the gold standard for value and this new Camry continues that tradition."

The all-new Camry is powered by an upgraded 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine equipped with Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i), which features reduced noise and vibration levels and produces 158 horsepower at 6,000 RPM, an increase of four horsepower, and 161 lbs-ft. of torque at 4,000 RPM. Fuel economy is also improved with EPA estimated mpg ratings of 24 city/34 highway on models equipped with a five-speed manual transmission and 24 city/33 highway when equipped with a five-speed automatic.

For those looking for more power, a new 24-valve, DOHC 3.5-liter V6, which employs Dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (Dual VVT-i) is available in the LE, SE and XLE. The new V6 generates 268 horsepower at 6,200 RPM and 248 lbs.-ft. of torque at 4,700 RPM. The V6 is mated to an all-new six-speed automatic transmission with sequential shift and has EPA estimated fuel economy ratings of 22 city/31 highway.

All 2007 Camrys are equipped with an Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist. Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) with traction control is available as an option.

Seven airbags are now standard on all Camry models. These include dual-stage advanced SRS airbags, a driver's knee airbag, seat-mounted side airbags, and side-curtain airbags that help provide coverage for the length of the passenger compartment.

Camry will be available in five grades equipped with a comprehensive list of features to enhance comfort, convenience and overall value.

Bung Conan, saya juga pernah lihat Harrier Jepang yg pakai 9 airbag, tapi untuk pasar Asia sendiri pakai berapa airbag nich Camry ?

Betul. Yang jelas, kalau sungguh2 concern dan mau berbicara tentang safety, 2 airbag jelas kurang, karena hanya melindungi penumpang depan.

Dan sebenarnya yg lebih penting adalah safety feature yang ACTIVE, seperti Mercedes PreSafe I sampai III, yang mencegah terjadinya kecelakaan fatal daripada yang PASSIVE seperti airbag yang baru bekerja SETELAH terjadi kecelakaan.

Tapi paling2 dibilang mahal dan demi gengsi saja.

Makanya para CEO naik S-class atau seri-7, karena nyawa mereka berharga, baik bagi mereka sendiri, keluarga mereka ataupun bagi perusahaan mereka.

Boro2 7-9 airbags, kontrol traksi, lampu Xenon, dll
Rem disc pada 4 roda ajah gak pernah ada yang nuntut kok ? he he he ... apakah karena cuma menambah harga jual mobil saja ?

Ini just prove one thing : Kalau PASAR ngotot menuntut, biasanya pabrik mobil bohuat. Mau ngak mau harus sajikan.

Sebaliknya, kalau pasar cuek cuek saja, malah beli mobil kosong dengan jumlah yang besar, pabrik cuan banyak duit, WHY SHOULD THEY UPGRADE ? Apalagi ngak ada undang undang yang aturin ?

Pernah dengar kata " If U want to eat more cakes tomorrow, U must eat more cakes TODAY ! "

Kalau mobil safety kosong di tinggalin sampai sepi banget, ATPMnya PASTI upgrade ! Apalagi kalau saingannya demikian.

Cuman I forsee di Indo ngak secepat itu. People are still buying those cars in thousands a month !

Thats why I sangat harap effect Yaris terjadi lagi, yaitu, I PRAY AUV keluar safety lengkap, harga naik ngak terlalu banyak, dan laku keras.

Dan Innova makin sepi, nah ! Saat itu do U think Toyota will upgrade ? Even a 3 year old kid knows the answer !

Tapi kalau orang cuman fanatic ama merek, nama doang, ya jangan harap that day will come !

Orang indo ini memang unik, kenapa Stream 2.0 yang sudah ada ABS,EBD,BA,Airbags,rem disc pada 4 roda kurang laku ? padahal harganya competitf loh ?

U are damn right buddy ! Itu Stream 2.0 jauh lebih aman ! Tapi don't laugh at me yet ! Saat saya beli Stream 1.7, versi 2.0 sama sekali belum launching !

I will never know Honda akan keluar versi 2.0 yang lebih lengkap.

Tapi I know why sampai saat ini Stream 2.0 kurang laku. Bahkan sangat tidak laku. Jarang sekali lihat Stream yang pantatnya ada label 2.0.

Why ? Cause harga dia sudah dekat ama Serena, CRV, X-Trail, tipe mobil yang lebih lega, dan popular.

So with 250 juta to burn, ngak heran most people akan beli Serena, atau CRV, atau X-Trail !

Its the same case kenapa Innova G jauh lebih laku meskipun harganya ama Innova V ngak bilang jauh banget. Apalgi Innova 2.7 yang safety lengkap.

Bukan mobilnya jelek, tapi there are better options out there which the market chose !

Masalahnya dengan uang 250 juta, dapat mobil sempit !

Of course orang Indo juga banyak yang mau hemat uang 30+ juta. Tapi factor availability of other better and more popular cars juga pengaruh.

And heres my confession. Saat beli Stream di tahun 2002, I ngak gitu ngerti, ngak gitu perhatikan masalah safety feature. I pikirnya cuman seperti orang Indo umumnya, yaitu " Honda itu merek kuat, so kalau beli Stream, resale valuenya nanti PASTI bagus ! "

How WRONG I am ! Now Stream 1.7 tahun 2002 A/T harga pasarnya 140 juta pun belum tentu bisa. Meskipun barunya sudah 219 juta !

Thats why from this incident, I learnt that merek doang belum tentu jamin resale valuenya bagus atau tidak. TERGANTUNG TIPE, DESIGN dan popularity. Of course juga pengaruh yang mau beli bekasnya sebanyak apa, dan apakah pemilik lamanya banyak yang mau jual. Demand and supply !
