Citroen has hinted it will fit four-cylinder engines to its C6 executive saloon.
The C6 goes on sale in the UK in March with the choice of V6 petrol or diesel engines and prices starting at £29,500.
The four-cylinder engines are likely to be the 160bhp 2.2-litre petrol engine already in use in the C5 and a more powerful version of the latest 2.0-litre HDi turbodiesel that currently produces 136bhp in the C4.
Expect to see four-cylinder C6 models follow the V6s at the end of 2006 and cost from around £24,500.
