Shift_Capacity : All about Nissan Serena C25
Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., today announced the launch in Japan of the all-new Serena minivan. As its tagline “SHIFT_capacity†implies, the Serena dramatically transforms the potentialities of a one-box vehicle by accommodating users’ diverse driving needs.
Design
The exterior design is built around the themes of “active†and “spacious†and features large side windows rendered with a distinctive, step-like spur character line and a modern-looking cubic body form that conveys a feeling of stability.
<20RX/20RS>
The body-colored grille is smoothed out with the bumper and hood to give the front end a distinctive look.
The stable-looking 3-D form is accentuated by the bumpers and the colored accent belt around the bottom of the body.
<20G/20S>
The chrome-plated grille is designed with a wide, clear-cut look.
The spoiler-like flare of the body panels around the fog lamps projects an aerodynamic impression and a sense of unity with the body sides.
Designed around the themes of “active†and “roomy†themes, the interior has a bright, open ambience, thanks to the large windows, low waistline and expansive-looking instrument panel.
Drivetrain
Thanks to the combination of Nissan’s 2.0-liter MR20DE engine and XTRONIC CVT (continuously variable transmission), both two-wheel drive (2WD) and four-wheel drive (4WD) models deliver outstanding start-off acceleration and fuel economy in the practical speed range of everyday driving.
The project concept for the all-new Serena is focused on three unique attributes:
“Looks bigâ€Â
The Serena’s big interior is among the roomiest in its class. Thanks to the roomy space and large windows, passengers in all seating positions can travel comfortably and pleasantly to their destination. Class-leading legroom and headroom ensure comfortable spaciousness in all seating positions.
Moreover, the cargo area readily accommodates large leisure equipment without any problem.
When configured for maximum cargo carrying capacity, the large cargo area accommodates four mountain bikes. It also provides plenty of luggage space even when the third-row seats are in use.
The cargo area has a large-capacity underfloor compartment capable of holding various items such as a 9-inch golf bag.
“Feels easyâ€Â
Wide dual sliding side doors and the low step and floor height allow smooth, effortless ingress and egress. The big windows also provide excellent outward visibility to make driving easier.
The large opening of the dual sliding side doors combines with the low step height to facilitate easy entry and exit.
The seatback of the third-row seats unlocks and simultaneously flips forward at the pull of a release strap. An assist spring is also provided to lighten the effort of folding up the seats to the side.
The electronically controlled power-assist shifter reduces shifting effort for improved driving ease.
Thanks to the large side windows, the road surface areas invisible to the driver at the front and along the sides of the car have been shortened.

The seats can be reconfigured in various seating patterns in simple, easy operations. In addition, the Serena comes with a wide variety of convenient features for more enjoyable travel, including a car interphone system and a rear-seat entertainment system comprising a wide 9-inch power liquid crystal display monitor and a DVD-video player for rear-seat passenger enjoyment.
The second-row seating system includes a multifunction center seat with a seatback that folds down for use as a table. Sliding the center seat forward in that condition also allows it to be used as a table by the front-seat occupants.
A "cool tray" in the instrument panel uses cooling air from the air-conditioning system to prevent cold drinks from becoming warm or chocolate from melting.Dedicated microphones and speakers are installed in the front- and third-row seat areas to form a car interphone system that enables these seat occupants to enjoy smooth, two-way conversations.
Additional information on power and handling
Nissan’s high-strength Zone Body, which is built on the C platform, achieves world-class safety performance.
A front strut suspension is combined with either a torsion beam rear suspension on 2WD models or a multi-link rear suspension on 4WD models to provide excellent handling and stability along with superb ride comfort.
Four-wheel disc brakes (ventilated discs at the front) are standard on all models for braking performance characterized by a feel of superior braking ease and peace of mind.
Safety and environmental friendliness
Standard safety features on all models include front-seat Active Head Restraints and dual SRS airbag systems for the driver and front passenger.
All Serena models are certified as ultra-low emission vehicles (U-LEVs)*1 because they emit 50% fewer exhaust emissions than the levels mandated by Japan’s 2005 exhaust emission regulations. All models also qualify for tax reductions*2 under the Green Tax program in Japan by attaining the 2010 fuel economy standards plus an additional 5%.
*1 The low-emission vehicle certification system of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport was inaugurated in April 2000 to encourage the penetration of low-emission vehicles through their selection by ordinary consumers. Following the adoption of the 2005 new long-term exhaust emission regulations in September 2003, the system was revised in October of that year to establish two certification categories. U-LEV certification requires an additional 50% reduction of nitrogen oxide (NOx) and non-methane hydrocarbon (NMHC) emissions from the levels mandated by the 2005 exhaust emission regulations and super ultra-low emission vehicle (SU-LEV) certification requires an additional 75% reduction of these exhaust gas constituents.
*2 For vehicles complying with the requirements of the Green Tax program, the automobile acquisition tax is reduced by 10,000 yen on personal-use vehicles that are newly registered by March 31, 2006, and for U-LEVs the automobile tax is reduced by 25% for one year beginning from the next fiscal year after a vehicle is registered. This car proves that Ghosn's designers are working hard in their studios. Dan selama ini, mungkin Toyota puas ama Noah / Voxy. Ngak ada perobahan.

The c25 have so many new features yang saya ngak kepikiran as stated in yr article.
Nanti when she arrives here, will all these be enough to bring back the guys yang sekarang lagi cinta ama Odyssey / Grandis's sportiness, the Innova 2.7's name ?
With so many features yang bahkan Alphard pun tidak punya, I conclude that this c25 has very awesome firepower indeed. She outguns everybody else in her department TODAY, in terms of features and fasilities, kalau ngomong styling ya subjective.
But nanti di Indonesia, takutnya orang sini tetap pikir, Toyota's old model resale value still better than Nissan's NEWEST creation !
I wonder why people here sangat obsessed banget ama resale value. So what if ada selisih 10-20 juta after a few years ? Is it such a big deal ?
Toh masak mobil dengan feature complit resale valuenya bisa hancur ?
Mr. conan, I guess the c25 is good enough for U now right ? Just what U are looking for.
For me, its OK. Paling penting she is no BMW (ie affordable). Artinya sooner or later, ada uang, ada barang. I will own her one day.

Btw, so, have you watched Episode 3? It's definitely my most fave episode (The Phantom Menace ranks at second place).
However, tapi karena NMI bersikeras tidak akan memasukkan C25 anytime soon, the left option is from the importers. Tapi, masalah yang Anda sebut (tentang resale value) akan ditambah lagi oleh faktor model CBU yang resale valuenya akan lebih 'jatuh' lagi. Belum lagi harga yang lebih mahal karena margin yang diambil IU. In the end, this is all NMI's blunder! Oh, well, we'll see

Elgrand I think sudah facelift. Ngak beda jauh deh ! Abt that list on the face I think.
Oh, FYI, my contact in NMI himself soon after launch of the c24 last year, dia juga beli satu ! So he is a " victim " of the c24 syndrom too.
Will the IUs take action ? Maybe or maybe not ? Soalnya saya lihat masih mayoritas IU masih nempel ama Toyota / Honda. They have failed to see this latest star from Nissan shining.

New Serena gue baca di majalah katanya akan dilaunch dan dirakit di Taiwan semester pertama tahun 2006.
Secara keseluruhan new serena ini gue liat jauh lebih bagus dari Serena QRV, apalagi yg model Indo lampu belakangnya model minibus macam carry (sorry c24 owner don't hurt feeling) --- jeleknya minta ampun
Lebih berkesan luas, punya banyak fungsi, modern look and more comfort. Apalagi tampang depannya macho juga (yg foto serena hitam dan orange).
Tapi katanya di Jepang dijual lebih mahal dari Honda step wagon. Wah udah PD neh Nissan.
Kalo dibanding antara New Serena dan Honda Step Wagon, pilih yg mana hayo???
Kalo gue pilih Honda Step Wagon, terutama karena keunggulan low floornya (apalagi lantainya dipasang floor paper macam dirumah aja, keren deh), dashboard looking more modern than new serena.
Tapi sayang gue gak bakal beli keduanya, karena dari dulu gue gak pernah suka model wagon

Pertanyaanku, darimana NMI akan bisa mendapatkan stok C24 untuk dijual '3-4 tahun' ke depan?
Apakah bukan reply mereka pada Anda itu hanya 'basa-basi' agar C24 owners tidak sewot, padahal mereka juga tidak tahu pasti kapan Mr. Toru Hasegawa akan memerintahkan dimulainya perakitan C25 di Indo?

If that is so, ya I will be like U Mr. Conan. I keep the c24 and watch the c25 unfold, while U also keep yr kapsul and watch the new Innova's start dominating the roads. But its not the end of the World right ?
Yah, paling penting harganya jangan skyhigh, supaya a few more years we can trade in our cars, pay extra cash and upgrade !
Eh, bung Herry, malah saya opposite. Secara keseluruhan c25 hebat. Tapi bagian belakangnya malah saya belum biasa. I am still OK with c24's rear. Of course if U say its ugly, its yr right. For me, the weakness of the c24 is her face yang kalah keren ama c25.
And the c25 have Innova like aircon vents, artinya benjolan antara 1st and 2nd row for the AC duck sudah hilang ! Artinya headroom jadi lebih gila lagi !
But so long as there are still many people here yang mind abt selisih berapa puluh juta to buy a used car rather than new, I am sure next time I can sell my c24 for a decent price and change to the super c25 !
Look at the old CRV, meskipun harga jualnya turun, tapi masih wajar lah ! Ngak sampai catastropic ! Itupun New CRV jauh lebih cantik banding the old one.
Kecuali c24 seperti c23, mesin di dalam cabin, pintu cuman sebelah kiri, cabin lebih sempit, bentuk lebih jelek, kalau itu ya cilaka !

Also Mr. Conan, kenapa saya yakin c24 harga bekas ngak akan hancur total :
Look. She as U said is alone in the boxy / lega 200+ juta segment.
So say one day some family lihat c25. Suka. But mereka ngak tega / ngak mampu etc. beli full price for the new c25.
Yet mereka tetap inggin sebuah minivan yang lega, headroom sip, bisa 7 orang.
So if U are one of these families, who do U turn to ? there is only one model used car U can look for, the c24 !

Mr. Szli, why are you talking about C24 and its resale value again? I was asking you about C25 versi IU, is it worth considering? Karena harga jualnya akan jatuh ketika C25 versi CKD diluncurkan.
Sama seperti C24 Anda. Ketika C25 diluncurkan, resale value C24 akan terkoreksi lebih jauh lagi selain dari depresiasi per tahunnya. Misal C24 Anda akan berumur 2 tahun ketika C25 diluncurkan = depresiasi sebesar 30% dari Rp 280 juta menjadi Rp 196 juta, dan karena C25 Comfort Touring dijual misalnya Rp 235 juta, C24 HS akan terkoreksi lagi Rp 10-20 juta. Dan C24 HS akan terkoreksi lebih banyak daripada C24 CT, karena harga bekas CT akan cukup jauh di bawah C25 CT, sedangkan C24 HS jauh lebih dekat dengan a brand new C25..

Hey, kadang saya make a point meskipun ngak ada orang yang tanya. I was trying to make my opinion heard thats all.
If U want my opinion on c25 CBU, again it depends on UUD. Kalau uang banyak, mau menikmatin c25 CBU bikinan Japan yang sip, OK. But nanti CKD keluar pasti berasa beda harganya lumayan.
As for c24, if someone wants to buy her from my hands at a ridiculous price, I'll tell him/her to go to hell ! I will never sell my well maintained, fully armed and operational Death Star to the Rebels at a big discount.
Jika perlu, ya like U I will wait longer a bit till someone pays me a more realistic price. If not, no c25 for me. Its OK !
And don't forget, a c25 HS harganya akan naik juga dong. Mau ada TV / DVD / back view camera, electric sliding door, all these cost money, c24 kek, c25 kek ...
A car's resale value is determined NOT only by people bidding for it, but also people who sell. If people who sell refused to be cowed into selling at bad prices, then that car will not suffer from Carnival like prices.
Also it depends on how many old c24 owners are rushing to change to c25. If the numbers are not abnormally high, then the c24 resale value will also not plunge.
As a 2nd opinion, I hope Mrs Obs and Joe Black bisa kasih yr honest opinion. After seeing the c25, are U in a hurry to dump yr c24 at low prices ? I don't think so...

No, I don't think so too. Logikanya begini. Orang2 yang beli C24, pasti karena kelegaannya dan kenyamanannya. Dalam 2 hal ini, I have no complain whatsoever with C24. Walaupun C25 lebih nyaman lagi dan memberi space yang lebih lega lagi, so what?? I never said C24 owners should sell their cars and buy the C25. It was never my point.
Mr. Szli, you don't have to always bring up the C24 s C25 issue just because you're a C24 owner, do you?
The C24 vs C25 debate will be irrelevant once NMI starts selling C25s and stop selling C24s.
Future Serena owners will get C25 once it's available, dan setelah C25 mulai dijual, populasi C24 tidak akan bertambah lagi.
Dan jika C25 diluncurkan pada tahun 2006, resale value C24 tidak akan bisa sekuat model lain yang berumur penuh 5 tahun, karena dengan hanya berbeda harga sedikit (depresiasi 1/2 tahun), orang bisa membeli C25 yang tampangnya baru, mesinnya baru, dan feature2nya juga baru.
Seperti pada kasus CRV lama, CRV lama resale valuenya tidak terlalu bagus karena model tahun 2002 sudah new CRV, dan sudah banyak new CRV keluaran tahun 2002 di pasar mobil bekas.

Relax buddy ! Arti saya cuman even when the c25 arrives, TEKANAN jual c24 tidak akan demikian besar. So the used prices of c24 will not freefall.
Dan mohon understand why I like to talk abt c24 with the other c24 owners. Anda bukan pemilik, so U will not understand my feelings. Just let us discuss OK ? U can ignore c24 discussions jika anda don't care.

New Nissan Serena Diluncurkan di Jepang 3-4 Juni Mendatang
NISSAN Motor Co Ltd di Jepang akhir Mei lalu mengumumkan akan meluncurkan New Nissan Serena, yang berkategori minivan, atau lebih populer dengan sebutan multi-purpose vehicle (MPV). Dijadwalkan pada tanggal 3 atau 4 Juni, mobil yang akan diproduksi sebanyak 6.000 unit setahun itu sudah akan dijual di seluruh dealer Nissan di negara Matahari Terbit itu.
Desain eksterior New Nissan Serena dititikberatkan pada tema aktif dan lega yang dicerminkan lewat bentuk bonnet, grille, dan spoiler depan yang kokoh, sporty, dan modern, serta kaca depan dan samping yang luas. Sementara desain interiornya pun dibuat cerah, terbuka, lantai yang rendah dan datar, serta panel instrumen yang ekspansif.
New Nissan Serena akan menyandang mesin 2.0 Liter (2.000 cc), yang tenaga dan torsinya diteruskan ke roda melalui persneling otomatik yang menggunakan teknologi continuously variable transmission (CVT), yang diberi nama XTRONIC CVT. Baik yang menggunakan penggerak dua roda maupun penggerak empat roda memiliki kemampuan akselerasi yang cukup baik, dan lumayan hemat bahan bakar bila dipacu dengan kecepatan normal (sampai dengan 80 kilometer per jam).
ADA tiga atribut yang melekat pada New Nissan Serena, yakni pertama, "tampak besar". Interior New Nissan Serena paling lega di kelasnya. Ruang yang lega dan kaca-kaca yang luas membuat penumpang dalam komposisi duduk seperti apa pun dapat pergi dengan nyaman dan menyenangkan sampai ke tujuan.
Ruang untuk barang di belakang cukup luas. Jika diperlukan tambahan ruang, kursi deretan ketiga (paling belakang) dapat dilipat dan diangkat ke kiri dan ke kanan, serta kursi deretan kedua dapat didorong mendekati kursi pengendara dan penumpang depan. Pendeknya, New Nissan Serena dapat memuat empat sepeda gunung atau sembilan tas perlengkapan golf.
Kedua, "terasa mudah". Dengan dua pintu geser yang lebar dan bukaan yang luas serta lantai yang datar dan rendah, membuat penumpang belakang dapat masuk dan keluar dengan leluasa dan mudah. Kaca-kaca yang luas juga membuat pandangan keluar sangat baik sehingga memudahkan pengendaraan mobil tersebut.
Ketiga, "asyik digunakan". Komposisi kursi dapat diubah- ubah dengan mudah. Sebagai tambahan, New Nissan Serena juga dilengkapi dengan beberapa fasilitas, seperti sistem interphone di dalam mobil, dan hiburan untuk penumpang belakang, yakni layar monitor liquid crystal display (LCD) 9 inci dan pemutar DVD.
Kursi deretan kedua dilengkapi dengan kursi tengah multifungsi, yang bisa dijadikan sebagai meja untuk penumpang deretan kedua dan ketiga. Dan, jika kursi tengah itu didorong ke dekat kursi pengendara dan penumpang depan, maka meja itu bisa dimanfaatkan oleh mereka. New Nissan Serena juga menyediakan kotak pendingin di dekat panel instrumen, yang menggunakan sistem pengatur udara (AC).
