2016 24 Hours of Le Mans - A Dramatic Heartbreaking Race for TOYOTA
Lansung saja dah saya kasi videonya kenapa saya bilang ini balapan kemarin yang dramatis dan bikin sakit hati kubu TOYOTA yang sudah empat kali finish terbaik nya ke-2 di Le Mans dan sekarang jadi lima kali.
Setelah berjuang selama 23 jam 53 menit 20 detik tiba-tiba Kazuki Nakajima yang sedang memimpin jalan nya lomba dengan #5 Toyota mengalami masalah. Dan sialnya saat melintasi garis finish line untuk menjalankan final lap, Toyota TSO50nya mogok.
Silahkan kawan-kawan SMers nilai apakah ini benar-benar balapan terdramatis yang pernah terjadi atau bukan.

Yang parah nya lagi #5 Toyota gak terklasifikasi finsih di hasil balapan walaupun menempuh jarak lap yang sama dengan #2 Porsche.
Karena di dalam regulasi Le Mans, lap terakhir harus dilakukan dalam waktu dibawah 6 menit, dan #5 Toyota sayangnya butuh 11 menit untuk menyentuh garis finish lagi.
Jadi di hasil balapan #5 Toyota dianggap ke-45 not classified.
Memang terlalu kejam balapan kali ini buat Toyota.

Mobil temen sih ngelitik tuh.. Ke toyota kagak mau ganti apa-apa dan ga bisa ganti apa apa.
Untung kagak ambil ANKI or Fortie, bisa problem.. Mending 2KD masih juara dan badak..
OOT dikit, berarti juaranya sekarang Porsche ya? Beli cayenne turbo/S deh kalau gt.. Makin idaman aja, semenjak masuk balik ke lemans jadi unbeatable..

Wah nanti kalau ipah ikutan Le Mans, mesti dibuka kelas baru:
LM-MPV pake wide boy, front spoiler spliter, full GT rear wing, rear diffuser.
Mesin pake racikan nya om htannis cukup lah 500hp 1000nm buat kasi asep cumi-cumi yang di kelas LM-GTE kan lurusan mulsanne nya panjang banget, asalkan ada develop gearbox 6 speed dulu biar top speed nya tembus 300 km/h.
@om turboman, dugaan sementara penyebab nya adalah kerusakan Turbo entah cuman salah satu nya atau dua-dua nya bermasalah.
Jadi electric motor nya cuman bisa bantu akselerasi sampai ke 200 km/h, lalu seharusnya internal combustion engine nya yg bawa mobil itu ke top speed nya.
BTW jadi inget dulu toyota motorsport juga pernah ketiban sial di moment-moment akhir.
1998 Great Britain Rally - rally terakhir kejuaraan WRC di tahun 1998.
Carlos Sainz Sr. Corrola hatchback nya mogok 500 meter sebelum finish stage terakhir padahal lawan utama nya Tommi Makkinen udah out duluan di leg pertama. Gak jadi juara dunia lagi untuk ke 3 kali nya dah tuh Carlos.

Maksudnya apapun yg terjadi pada mobil si Toyota di Le Mans gak ada pengaruh-nya bagi customer Toyota di indonesia
Hal2 yg dramatis dan memprihatinkan kalo menurut saya adalah jika produk2 mobil Toyota mengecewakan konsumen di Indonesia

Yah ampun part yang bermasalah sebetulnya sangat sederhana,Toyota identifies failure that cost it Le Mans 24 Hours win
Toyota has identified the problem that cost it victory in last weekend's Le Mans 24 Hours.
The technical issue that resulted in a sudden loss of power for Kazuki Nakajima on the penultimate lap of the race has been traced to a "defect on the air line between the turbo and the intercooler", Toyota Motorsport GmbH has revealed.
"The team attempted to modify the control settings to restore power and this was eventually achieved, allowing the car to complete the final lap," read a statement.
"However, it was achieved too late to complete that lap within the required six minutes."
This resulted in the car that Nakajima shared with Anthony Davidson and Sebastien Buemi being unclassified, despite completing the same number of laps as the winning Porsche.
The problem was identified after the return of the two TS050 HYBRIDs to TMG headquarters from Le Mans on Tuesday.
Analysis will continue to determine the root cause of the problem, but Toyota stressed that it was not related to the engine issues experienced by the two TS050s at the Spa round of the World Endurance Championship in May.
"Comprehensive investigations are under way at TMG to determine the precise reason for this issue with the aim of establishing countermeasures to avoid any repeat in the future," said the statement.
The #5 Toyota was leading Le Mans by more than a minute when the problem occurred, handing victory to the #2 Porsche 919 Hybrid shared by Neel Jani, Marc Lieb and Romain Dumas.

Untuk tahun ini Atoyot turunin 3 mobil sekaligus untuk balapan 2017 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Berhasil meraih pole position dan memecahkan rekor kualifikasi dan di sesi latihan bebas menunjukan mobil TSO50 memiliki ritme atau pace yg lebih baik dari Porsche 919 Hybrid.

“Sorry we weren't able to let you drive all out.”
Normally, it would be proper to start off with words of appreciation for the support provided to us by our fans. However, for this time at Le Mans, I think I must first direct my opening words to our drivers.
To me, at Le Mans for the first time, our drivers said, “We want you up together with us at the center of the podium”, “For that, we definitely don't want to lose”, and “So fight together with us.”
In return, I said: “Drive all out. Trust the cars the mechanics readied for you. Enjoy Le Mans.”
Despite telling them such, I was not able to allow them to drive all out. This, I truly regret. Even though our drivers drove believing in our cars, I can only say how sorry and how full of regret I am.
I believe that the Toyota engineers, mechanics and parts suppliers, who built our cars for this battle, all feel the same.
Therefore, bearing the burden as a representative of all such people, please let me say once again: “Sorry we weren't able to let you drive all out.”
Also, to all the people related to the Toyota team, including our nine drivers, I would like to share two things on my mind at this moment.
The first is for our fans.
To all the fans who supported us believing in victory for Toyota, I am truly sorry that we were not able to meet your expectations.
And for believing in us and giving us your passionate support for 24 hours all the way to the end, I want to express my deepest appreciation. Thank you. Thank you all so very much.
Once again, Toyota will strive for the day on which we can, together, have smiles on our faces.
The second is for the Porsche team.
After last year's battle, I happily received many comments from people at Porsche recognizing us as a rival.
To live up to having been called a “rival”, I had thought that what we needed to do this year was to again put up a brilliant fight that would captivate the fans.
That is why the team was able to take up bold challenges that resulted in new technologies and skills.
To the Porsche team, I say congratulations. And I also say thank you very much.
In the end, however, Toyota was not able to put up the kind of fight that could captivate the fans, like it did last year.
This time, both Porsche and we, Toyota, were not able to complete without incident 24 hours of driving in the hybrid cars that we put to the challenge on the roads of Le Mans.
Both even winning car No. 2 and our car No. 8, which completed the race, were forced to undergo time-consuming, trouble-caused repairs, before struggling to cross the finish line.
While the hybrid technology that has advanced through competition in the FIA World Endurance Championship puts its abilities on display in six-hour races, it might be that it is not yet ready for the long distance of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The power of electricity is absolutely necessary for cars take on a more-emotional presence.
Le Mans is a precious laboratory in which we can continue to take up the challenges related to the technologies involved, putting such technologies to the test in an extreme environment.
We will hone our technologies even further and ripen them to provide our customers with technologies that will truly make them smile. And we, Toyota, will go on making effort after effort so that we can continue making ever-better cars.

Ane sempet nonton ini pas habis sahur hari minggu kmrn. Bener2 pas heartbreaking momentnya toyota #7 sama #9 retire dlm selang waktu kurang dr 1 jam, habis #8 dibenerin front hybrid drivenya (kl kata komentator eurosport sih begitu). Kasian juga sampe nangis itu team director, cuma ya gak senyesek th lalu sih.

Fake marshal signal causes Toyota #7 Le Mans loss?
Despite starting the race weekend as favourites, Toyota – after the heartbreak of last year’s close finish – failed to garner a podium win at the Le Mans 24-hour endurance race this year. Running in pole position at the tenth hour of the race, the Toyota Gazoo Racing TS050 Hybrid #7 car, driven by Mike Conway (34), Kamui Kobayashi (31) and Stephane Sarrazin (42), was forced to retire with a burnt out clutch.
According to Toyota Gazoo Racing technical director Pascal Vasselon, speaking to sportscar365.com, the loss was a bitter pill to swallow, as he felt the team had done their absolute best to prepare the car in the off-season, only to lose to a bizarre set of circumstances that saw the clutch of the LMP1 race car destroyed due to one too many standing starts.
The incident occurred when Kobayashi pulled into the pit for a routine service during the second safety car period and entered the queue to exit pit lane, when he was given a false signal by a fake marshal to go. Apparently the fake “marshal” was Vincent Capillaire, from the #45 Algarve Pro Ligier LMP2 car, giving a sign of encouragement to Kobayashi, who misinterpreted the signal.

“It’s amazing, someone came to tell him, and we have it on video: ‘Go go go!’ And normally, our drivers are used to the human action dominate signs,” Vasselon said. “From our side, we told him stop because the safety car queue was coming, and it was not possible.”
The resulting start-stop-start-stop confusion caused the car’s clutch to burn out, with Kobayashi retiring the TS050 Hybrid at Porsche Curves shortly after re-entering the Circuit de la Sarthe. “So he had done several restarts with the clutch and the combustion engine… and burned the clutch because he has been thrown into a situation which should not exist,” said Vasselon.
For his part in the fiasco of the #7 Toyota’s loss at Le Mans, Capillaire was fined 1000 euro (RM4,779) by race organisers, handed out during the race itself. “On Saturday night, during the race, I was waiting for my relay, helmeted at my box, I wanted to show my encouragement to the lead car, stopped in red a few meters in front of my box. Was a spontaneous encouragement, as it happens between pilots, and I was fined by the commissioners for this gesture and I admit it was inopportune,” said Capillaire.
Kobayashi was sanguine about this year’s Le Mans result for Toyota Gazoo Racing, saying, “It is very disappointing because I thought it was going to be our day because we were quick and we felt we were controlling the race. Again we found out how hard it is to win Le Mans. Big thanks to the team who put so much effort into this race.”
“It is not only about speed, because we had that but in the end we missed the win. We just have to come back and go for the win again next year,” he continued. Starting in pole position, the Toyota Gazoo Racing TS050 Hybrid #7 completed 154 laps of Le Mans, with 12 pit stops, and clocked a fastest lap of 3 minutes 18.694 seconds.
