Ladies and gentlemen, your new Volkswagen Golf has arrived. The next generation of Volkswagen's best-selling car debuted at a press conference today in Berlin, Germany. According to Volkswagen, the new Golf offers "more features, even better safety, and more performance." You know, the usual.

One item particularly of note is the fact that this Golf is 220 pounds lighter than the outgoing model, through a holistic diet (and new MQB architecture) that shaves weight in places as minute as the wiring and air conditioning. The use of high-strength steel has gone up by 28 percent, as well, compared with just six percent before.

The Golf you see here is the European-spec model, so in addition to perhaps different-colored indicators and the lack of a Euro-spec license plate, its unclear whether or not U.S. customers will see the new 1.4-liter turbocharged inline-four found underhood. Little has been said regarding U.S.-spec powertrains, though earlier reports have stated that the aging 2.5-liter inline-five will be swapped out in favor of a 1.8-liter turbocharged four.

Still, we don't yet have any official word yet on pricing, availability, or the confirmation of the above drivetrain speculation. We will bring you that information as soon it becomes available. For now, scroll down to read Volkswagen's initial press release.

Kalo buat ane sih desain VW enggak bosenin...demen ama yg simple-anggun-timeless gini...apalagi golf VII ini tarikan garis2nya, bentuk lampu depan-blakangnya lebih dinamis daripada tahun sbelumnya... :frm_tumbright: justru fluid motionnya Hyundai yg kadang pada beberapa model masih terasa terlalu rame di mata ane...

Tapi jok depannya koq keliatannya busanya kurang ya? Ampe kempot gitu...apa abis diduduki?

tp ya sampe 10 th ya ttp gitu , tingkat boringnya ttp hahaha
gak spt model2 yg futuristik ala hyundai , cakep di depan tp stlh brp taun udah bosen .....

Menurut ane juga makin jelek desainnya... Jujur aja...

Kedepannya kalau papasan dengan Golf ini, pasti jadi bingung...

Interiornya lebih cakep dari yang lama.. tapi exteriornya kok masih kelihatan lebih cantik yg lama ya :e-think:
Model yang baru ini kesannya jadi lebih kecil, dan mengotak.. sepertinya malah lebih cocok jadi penerus Mk4 daripada penerus Mk6.. kotak2nya mirip :mrgreen:
Mungkin memang harus lihat aslinya dulu, kadang foto suka menipu :upss:

The final big news is the engine: the turbo- and super-charged 1.4 four-cylinder has been replaced by a single turbo 1.4 – which has almost as much power. Given the car is 100kg lighter, the net result is identical if not slightly better performance.

It’s a smooth operator, with good power delivery from low revs and works well with the seven-speed DSG. You need to press the accelerator pedal a little further than before because it’s calibrated for economy not performance. The diesel is noisier, but relatively refined as diesels go.

Torsion beam rear suspension:

“It is about saving weight," says Volkswagen Group director of marketing, Jurgen Stackmann. "It’s lighter than multi link [rear suspension]. Customers don’t need it they, can’t sense the difference [when driving] on multi-link. That’s why multi-link is only on the higher output versions. For normal driving environments we have the normal [rear suspension].”

The new single-turbo 1.4 is simpler, lighter, more efficient and less costly to produce than its clever turbocharged-supercharged predecessor, hence the switch. And while 103kW at 4500-6000rpm mightn‘t set pulses racing, the new 1.4 TSI’s torque figure of 250Nm from 1500-3500rpm mostly compensates.
Actual performance is slightly down (0-100km/h in 8.4 seconds versus 8.0sec), but the version with automatic cylinder deactivation cuts two cylinders under light loads and cuts fuel consumption by up to 23 per cent.

Bentuknya jadi kurang manis tetapi memang interiornya jadi lebih bagus bila dibandingkan sebelumnya.

top notch interior design untuk VW golf MK7 ini... sepertinya jauh meningkat dibandingkan MK6...
anyway, sudah bisa dipesan lho kata dealer VW di PIK untuk versi GTI...

mau komen nih gan. kalo menurut gw sih, eksterior lebih mantap golf mk5 tapi interior memang golf mk7 ini jauh lebih bagus dan jauh lebih berkelas. secara keseluruhan bagus deh ini mobil. pengen tau juga nih ada teknologi baru yang diterapkan dimobil ini ga? thanks ya
