Bangkok (28 February 2006) – Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Thailand’s second largest manufacturer and exporter of passenger cars, today unveiled a new, upgraded version of its best-selling model, the Jazz. The new Jazz has sportier front and rear designs, new LED (light emitting diode) tail-lights, as well as stylish body-coloured headlight housings.

Mr. Hiroshi Toda, President of Honda Automobile (Thailand), said that the prices of the new Jazz “have also been kept as low as possible, beginning at only Bht 539,000, to emphasise that the Jazz continues to provide Best-in-Class value among five-door subcompacts”.

He said, “The core appeal of the Jazz has been its combination of quality, Best-in-Class value, as well as its stylishness, and the new model is designed to emphasise Jazz’s strengths in each of these three areas. We created the five-door subcompact segment with the Jazz, and we hope the new Jazz will strengthen our position in this segment by generating sales of around 18,000 units this year.”

The Jazz took the Thai auto market by storm when it was first introduced in November 2003, registering the highest ever sales of any new model launched in Thailand by Honda with more than 10,000 bookings made within the first two months of its launch.

Mr. Toda said that the new Jazz would now also be available in ‘Helios Yellow Pearl’, a new premium colour that will “reinforce Jazz’s appeal to ‘in-trend’ people who seek quality and sensible value while still wanting something that is youthful and fashionable.” Other additions that have been made to the top-of-the-line model to emphasise quality include keyless entry, self-illuminating gauges, power retractable door mirrors, as well as side turn indicators on door mirrors.

“Jazz is already the five-door subcompact with outstanding fuel-economy. In the new model we have added an oil-separating circuit that improves the operating efficiency of the air-conditioning system which further reduces fuel consumption,” he said.

Mr. Pongsak L. Wattanavong, Product Marketing Manager of Honda Automobile (Thailand), said that Honda was investing around Bht 50 million for the new Jazz’s marketing programme which targets males and females aged 20-25 years and aims to communicate that “the Jazz is a sporty, quality subcompact that provides the best value”.

The new Jazz is available in three major versions and with two different engines: a 110-horsepower 1.5-litre VTEC engine, and an 88-horsepower 1.5-litre i-DSI engine, both with options for manual and automatic transmissions.

The new Jazz is being displayed at a ‘Make the Move’ Party at the Siam Discovery Centre during 3-5 March 2006, as well as at all Honda showrooms. Between 3 March and 2 April, a ‘Make the Move’ Caravan Tour is being organised to visit more than 16 provinces around Thailand as part of a programme tointroduce the new Jazz to the public, nationwide.

Mr. Toda reported that Honda’s other recently introduced models were registering strong sales behind similar concepts of sporty looks and Best-in-Class performance.

As at the end of January 2006, 12,000 units have been sold of the Honda City ZX that was launched in August last year, almost doubling its share in the subcompact segment from 10% in July 2005 to 18% at the end of last year.

The all-new Civic, introduced in November 2005, has already recorded over 12,000 bookings in a little over two months. “That’s already almost half our forecast for the entire year for the Civic,” Mr. Toda said.

The subcompact segment, with sales of 86,338 units last year, accounts for almost half (46%) of the total Thai passenger car market of 188,210 units.

The subcompact segment is made up of the Honda Jazz with a 24% share of the segment, and the Toyota Avanza (3%), as well as the recently launched Yaris, all of which are five-door hatchbacks. The segment also includes sedan-type subcompacts such as the Honda City ZX (18%), and the Toyota Vios (55%).

The total passenger vehicle market registered monthly sales of 12,342 units in January 2006.

Honda established an automobile distribution company in Thailand in 1983, and a manufacturing company in 1984, both of which were consolidated into a single company, Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd., in 2000.

Honda Automobile’s manufacturing and assembly plant is located in Rojana Industrial Estate in Ayudhya province. It has a production capacity of 120,000 units, annually, and is one of the most technologically advanced and fully integrated Honda facilities in the region.

During January-December 2005, Honda exported over 45,000 passenger vehicles (CBU) earning over Bht 40,000 million in export revenues for cars and parts.

Honda generates over 80,000 jobs in Thailand, including Honda employees, dealers and first tier suppliers.

Hatchback terlaris di Thailand in tampil lebih sporty dengan disain bumper depan dan belakang lebih keren, lampu belakang dengan teknologi LED dan rumah lampu depan (headlight) dilapisi cat sewarna body. Perubahan juga terlihat pada spion samping dan sedikit sentuhan interior.

Harga yang ditawarkan juga baru. Jazz i-DSI 88hp ditawarkan dengan harga 539,000 - 611,000 baht dan Jazz i-VTEC 110hp dilepas dengan harga 595,000 - 705,000 baht. Menurut Hiroshi Toda, President of Honda Automobile (Thailand), harga Jazz diupayakan tetap serendah mungkin untuk mempertahankan predikat Best-in-Class value disegmen hatchback lima pintu.

Jazz juga menawarkan warna baru ekslusif 'Helios Yellow Pearl'. Roda kemudi baru dan kontrol AC seperti yang digunakan Jazz spek Eropa tidak di adopsi karena alasan harga.

interior sih gak ada beda, cuma beda kelengkapan aja, tapi dealer honda belum ada yang tahu tuh tentang honda jazz facelift ini, maklum mereka sedang dalam kondisi cukup happy karena orderan jazz gak terpengaruh ama yaris dan swift. bahkan mereka membantah berita di otomotif yang menyebutkan 'the next honda jazz' bakal mengadopsi headlight HID, bisa bisa matiin pasaran city katanya.... bahkan ABS EBD pun mereka gak terlalu yakin akan dicangkokkan ke jazz.... habis laku siiiich..... dasar.....

Gw baca sih kayanya Jazz facelift ini akan diluncurkan saat Indonesia Motor Show bulan Juli nanti (IMS nama baru dari Gaikindo Auto Expo). Jadi sabar aja ya ... tinggal 2-3 bulan lagi...

Jangan mengharapkan ada banyak perubahan jazz facelift. Jazz facelift tahun ini hanya ada perubahan minor, sama sekali beda dgn fit hybrid. Fit hybrid masih belum diproduksi, dan model yg digunakan kemungkinan akan menjadi new model for fit/jazz NOT facelift jazz.
