Pamor GDI Turbo & WRC standard 1600 cc di 2011
Akankah regulasi baru WRC di 2011 yg membatasi kapasitas mesin s/d 1600 cc akan semakin mengangkat pamor mesin2 GDI Turbo ?
Yg jelas Ford sudah mempersiapkan mesin 1600 cc GDI Turbo berbasis Ford Ecoboost 1.6 GDI turbo versi konsumen, juga Citroen DS3 dgn 1.6 GDI Turbo-nya
A new era for the World Rally Championship
The Fiesta RS WRC competition car will form part of a new era for the world championship.
The Fiesta rally car will boast four-wheel drive transmission and a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine, based on the all-new Ford EcoBoost engine family, to comply with new regulations.
The new Ford EcoBoost engine family features direct petrol injection and turbocharging to maximise performance and efficiency.

More compact than its predecessor, the Citroën DS3 WRC boasts the same powerful lines as the production DS3, although they are emphasised by the cooling vents and aerodynamic parts designed to improve road holding at high speeds. Under the bonnet, the 300hp 1.6-litre direct-injection turbocharged engine was conceived from start to finish by Citroën Racing.

Semoga hal ini akan semakin mendorong berbagai pabrikan otomotip utk lebih mengembangkan mesin2 Gasoline "GDI-Turbo", dimana utk versi konsumen mesin2 GDI turbo rata2 memiliki karakter Torsi spt halnya Diesel, sehingga emisi CO2 nya lebih kecil karena mesin gak perlu sering2 berkitir ke RPM tinggi.

Jadi deh yang mampu ikut hanya Ford, Citroen dan MINI.
Merk Jepun gak bisa ikut karena basisnya 2000 cc semua, kecuali Suzuki kali.
Saya nggak melihat manfaat pengurangan kapasitas mesin menjadi 1600 cc, kecuali (akhirnya) memaksa mobil Perancis menyediakan turbo.

Nissan punya mesin 1.6 GDI turbo bernama MR16DDT - 1.6 DIG-T yg dipasang di Juke
Hanya saja mmg mesin ini masih sangat baru, berbeda dengan mesin mesin 1.6 GDI turbo dari berbagai produsen mobil Eropa yg sudah lama exist dan sudah lebih "matang"

................All F1 engines are naturally aspirated V8's of 2400cc..............a new F1 engine can produce around 720hp, but would be able to reach up to 780hp and above 20,000rpm if there would not be a limit on engine revolutions.

Emang sih mesin F1 adalah mesin yg paling sadis outputnya..Tapi coba deh ditantang balapan 24 jam vs mesin2 yg ga terlalu besar powernya alias mesin standard pabrikan dijamin (90% kemungkinan) ga sampai 24 jam itu mesin F1 udah "meleduk" duluan..

Reliability emang penting dalam pemilihan mobil, apalagi kondisi ekonomi sekarang suka naik turun.
Sayangnya sering sekali reliable = boring.
Kapaaaaaan kita bisa dapat mobil yg reliable tapi ada passion in drivingnya?
