Toyota Declares Q1 Profit. Guess How Much?

The suspense-filled wait for Toyota Motor Corp’s first quarter profits is finally over. Some expected (hoped?) that ToMoCo would pay dearly for the recalls. Others consulted their crystal ball that said that Toyota might have netted more than a billion US in the first quarter. They were all wrong. Way off the mark. Not even on the same planet.

According to a communiqué sent out today by Toyota, net income increased from a loss of 77.8 billion yen in the same quarter last year to 190.4 billion yen this year. That, ladies and gentlemen, equates $2.2b in today’s dollars. According to The Nikkei [sub], the reasons for all that profit are “recovering sales at home and abroad,” along with “the company’s efforts to slash costs,” and last but not least “a operating profit of 211.6 billion yen” ($2.47b). Where does all that money really come from?

* Japan, operating loss of 27.5 billion yen (-$320m)
* North America, operating income of 109.7 billion yen ($1.28b)
* Europe, operating loss of 6.8 billion yen (-$80m)
* Asia, operating income of 90.2 billion yen ($1.05b))
* Central and South America, Oceania and Africa, operating income of 41.0 billion yen ($480m)
* Financial services, operating income of 115.1 billion yen ($1.34b)

Jadi lah ya...profit $2.2 BILLION satu quarter di jaman ujian berat

Permintaan "Fuel Pump" Toyota Naik 30 Persen

Fuel Pump (ist)Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Permintaan fuel pump berbagai jenis mobil Toyota meningkat sekitar 30 persen pada dua bulan terakhir.

"Sebagian besar permintaan (`fuel pump`) berasal dari Avanza, dan sebagian besar pembelian di Jakarta," kata GM Pemasaran PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) Widyawati, ketika ditemui di sela-sela Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS), di Jakarta, Kamis.

Namun Widyawati tidak menyebutkan angka persis kenaikan penjualan fuel pump atau pompa bensin kendaraan bermotor roda empat tersebut. Yang pasti, kata dia, terjadi kenaikan permintaan dalam dua bulan terakhir.

"Baru dua bulan ini, terjadi lonjakan permintaan fuel pump sampai 30 persen," katanya

Toyota's hybrid sales break a million in Japan, Prius still on top



Back in August of 1997, Toyota launched its Coaster Hybrid EV minibus, the company's first hybrid vehicle. Though the Coaster Hybrid is not a common name, it was the vehicle that started the hybrid revolution at Toyota. The Japanese automaker has now announced that cumulative sales of its hybrids have now topped the one-million mark in its home market. In addition, the company's global hybrid sales now stand at 2.68 million and counting.

In related news, Toyota announced that the Prius topped the sales charts in Japan once again, marking the 14th consecutive month that the Prius outsold all other models in the Japanese market. While Toyota is comfortably leading the way in hybrid sales, the company is committed to bolstering its lead. Toyota plans to introduce hybrid versions of all of its existing models by 2020 and aims to sell more than one million hybrids per year before the end of the decade.

NHTSA Confirms That Toyota Black Box Data Points To Driver Error… Again

A preliminary report by the National Research Council, recently revealed to congress, shows that of 58 Toyota “black box” event data recorders from crashes which occurred during the recall scandal

35 showed that at the moment of impact, the driver hadn’t depressed the brake pedal at all. Fourteen more showed partial braking, while nine showed the brake depressed at the “last second” before the crash.

There were a handful of other results where the brake was pressed early and let go, or in which both the gas and brake pedals were pressed at the same time. There also was one case of pedal entrapment by a floor mat.

In five cases, the electronic recording device failed to work.

Ekspor Fortuner Melesat Dua Kali Lipat



Toyota Indonesia kebanjiran order, terutama Fortuner. Jumlahnya meningkat dua kali lipat dibanding tahun lalu 4.690 unit . "Kami dapat order 10.000 unit tahun ini. Jadai dua kali lipat tahun lalu,” kata Irwan Priyantoko, Chief External Relations Officer, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN).

Untuk itu, TMMIN akan menaikkan kapasitas produksi dengan cara mempercepat proses peakitan atau tag time dari 2,7 menit menjadi 1,9 menit mulai Oktober 2010. Dengan cara tersebut, sampai akhir tahun, target 108.000 unit bisa dicapai.
