Setelah masuk di era mobil "boring tapi reliable" nya, dimana mobil2 beraura sport seperti Supra dan Celica di matikan...
looks like Toyota pelan2 kembali ke mobil2 yg fun to drive lagi.

The LFA is powered by a 72° 4.8-liter V10 engine equipped with Dual VVT-i carrying the 1LR-GEU designation with a maximum output of 552 bhp (412 kW) delivered at 8700 rpm. Its maximum torque output of 354 lb-ft arrives at 6800 rpm, 90 percent of which is available from 3700 rpm. The engine, like the Ferrari 458 Italia, redlines at 9000 rpm and is constructed using forged aluminum pistons, titanium connecting rods, titanium valves and uses dry sump lubrication as well. Air is fed directly from beneath the hood through a large rectangular opening using a dual stage variable intake manifold into 10 individual throttle bodies and exits through a titanium muffler. Toyota attempted to design the engine to sound like that of a Formula One car with rapid revs and claims an analog tachometer needle would be unable to accurately track the LFA's rapid changes in engine speeds, necessitating the use of digital tach which can instantly display RPMs.

The powerplant gives the LFA a power to weight ratio of 5.9 hp/lb and enables it to reach a top speed of around 202 mph (325 km/h).[25] Like the IS F Yamaha co-developed the engine cylinder heads and two Yamaha employees assemble each engine by hand every two days. The engine complies with Euro V emissions.

tambahan, LFA is using Carbon Fibre Monocoque !!!!! (note: bukan carbon panel), ini baru engineering canggih walaupun bukan in-house developed.
emang bos toyota yang sekarang suka sports taste.

hachi-roku, sayang, jadi subaru excitement instead of toyota excitement.

Yup, Finally, sudah saatnya nih Toyota kembali membuat sports car lagi.
Nti bisa battle donk nih sama Nissan GTR?? Hehehe.... Tinggal Honda nih masih ketinggalan

keliatannya mereka bertiga, khususnya Honda udah cium bau2 R35 bakal keluar, tapi langsung mikir & masuk kandang begitu liat performa R35 production begitu dahsyat. begitu pula Lexus LFA ini makanya toyota pending cukup lama untuk develop lebih intense lagi.

kalo dulu, unlike Jepang lain supra, GTO, 300ZX, FD, FC; honda isi dengan cara tersendiri di nsx, performa dengan format mesin n/a minimal dan chassis diet ringan pada jaman itu.
tapi saat ini, turbo setup & kontrol roda udah dikuasai Porsche dan nissan.
N/A, ada kubu ferrari dan lambo.
Ringan, diet, handling, ada Lotus.

Daripada keluarin mobil sport yang 'targetnya' cuma beats GTR R35 atau LFA, belum tentu bakal dikenang jadi great creation / ultimate cars.

Chassis canggih bikin bobot LFA unggul dari GTR R35 sekitar 200kg.
mirip NSX, LFA approach di chassis ringan kuat, plus hi-rev n/a karakter mesin motor dari yamaha makin komplit untuk handling, daripada just main turbo2 di Supra.
while GTR R35 di kontrol penggerak roda.
walaupun akselerasi bawah masih unggul GTR R35, kita liat hasil dynamic-real di Nurburgring.

om, yamaha ini apanya toyota ya? kalo ane denger2, dulu katanya mesin toyota ada yang dibikin oleh yamaha? apa bener?

dari beberapa review, GTR bisa ngimbangi galardo dan porsche GT2.. tapi para speed lover kurang suka dengan caranya GTR.. terlalu banyak elektronik..
kalo lambo dan porsche, masih mengandalkan sifat2 nature mobil.. makanya kalo ane baca para speed reviewer, sensasi di lambo dan porsche masih lebih enak daripada GTR walaupun kalo untuk circuit, GTR bisa lebih cepat... cmiiw..

Yamaha develop mesin sports toyota hi-rev terutama akhiran seri G- seperti GE, sekarang subaru ikutan juga.

Iya,
if u aren't a good driver pilih GTR biar banyak "di-assist".
if u are a good driver boleh pilih lainnya.

Tapi, sekarang posche dan lambo pun adopsi AWD canggih..cmiiw.

orientasi GTR justru adalah sportscar untuk jalan raya bukan circuit saja, untuk everyday enthusias driving, bahkan untuk salju sekalipun disediakan di mode VDC-R nya.
Ukuran roda besar, 4 seater, pakai Bose subwoofer segala, makanya berbobot berat, perlu diet ketat, sampe akhirnya nissan keluarkan R35 versi langsing : V-spec 2 seater.

hi-revolutions, rpm tinggi, teknologi mesin motor untuk mobil, terutama dipopulerkan honda yamaha.

mungkin karena awalnya toyota biasa bikin mesin truk, makanya dipercayakan ke yamaha, sekalian kan yamaha musuh berbuyutan honda motor yang ga punya produk mobil, gayung bersambut bener buat kedua pihak.
kalo percayain ke suzuki kan ga mungkin, secara suzuki juga punya mobil.
kenyang tuh honda dikerubutin atas bawah.

Mirip juga kemudian mempercayakan ke hino untuk vs mitsu di truk, karena hino termasuk saingan mitsu untuk truk yang tidak fokus produk mobil, gayung bersambut lagi dari hino.

LF-A ini mesin N/A kan? gak pake induksi?

terus, apakah mesin toyota F1 juga ada campur tangan yamahanya?
ada info apakah mesin 1LR-GEU ini ada teknologi F1 di dalamnya?

kalo f1 sih ogut ga tau.
oot, tapi dulu yamaha (& juga fuji heavy industries, subaru) pernah mau produksi mesin f1 untuk tim2 seperti honda, tapi mundur disinyalir karena mesinnya ga pernah bisa kasih output sebesar mesin2 f1 lain, beberapa pengamat tidak habis pikir kenapa sama2 produsen motor tercanggih tapi yamaha belum bisa sampai saat itu.

Harganya ga kurang mahal?

Koq keliatannya kencengan GTR ya? Kalau kemahalan sih ya orang indo gila brand sih, pasti ada yang beli. Kualitas lexus juga nomer 1, cuma harganya sedikit ga waras menurut gw.

Harga segitu dah maen teritori Ferrari, Lambo, Audi R8 V10.

Ya we'll see aja. Katanya indo cuma dapet jatah 2 biji dari Jepang.

Putting those numbers to the ground is the responsibility of Honda very own Super Handling All Wheel Drive (SH-AWD), with the combination of an 8-speed automatic. *chuckles*… 8 speed, as in 8 gears? *chuckles*. Toyota does put its own 8-speed automatic transmission, but in a full size sedan, not in a super car. Even Formula 1 cars only have 7 speed, what are they going to do with the extra gear? The gear ratio of 6-speed is enough for any racing car, even the Enzo uses 6-speed semi automatic gears. Whoops… I forgot to mention that this car will feature cylinder deactivation technology… Well, probably the extra gear is for cruising purposes. We are talking about Honda here, the sensibility king (although somewhat eccentric and not neccessary at all).

The source from Edmunds.com also claims that Takeo Fukui (Honda CEO) tells the engineer at Honda to make this car bested Nissan GT-R and Lexus LF-A at the Nürburgring. A tall task indeed as both cars features the technological achievement of each respective company, Toyota and Nissan. However it needs to be done, and be done fast.
