Spy Shots: '05 BMW 7-Series

BMW is moving ahead with their scheduled facelift on the 7-Series, and we expect the freshened Bimmer to be at dealerships as early as next summer.

The exterior of BMW's flagship will now be reshaped into a softer, less controversial look: the most visible changes will be the all-new headlights and the wider and more curved twin-kidney grille. Revised bumpers front and rear will round the facelift.

Under the hood, we expect the 4.4-liter engine to be tweaked to 4.8 liters, reaching an output of nearly 400 horsepower. And rumors are circulating of a modified and higher-output 6.0-liter V-12.

BMW hopes that these changes, as well as others including modifications to the iDrive System, will breathe new life into their controversial flagship.

Nah gitu donk ! Kalo Biem mau bersaing ketat dengan Mercedes Benz, khususnya S-Class harus memiliki design yang mantap. Seperti New BMW 7 Series tahun 2005 mendatang ini.

Tapi, dipikir2 ... model S-CLASS emang paling awet deh. Dari tahun 2000 ampe sekarang model dasarnya masih itu2 terus, paling juga mengalami face-lift.

Sedangkan seri 7 yang baru muncul aja udah mau berubah total lagi. Tapi selama perubahannya untuk tujuan yang lebih baik dan cerah tidak menjadi begitu masalah. Karena memang model seri 7 sekarang ini sangat amat jelek. Dampaknya penjualan terpuruk ...

Kalo S-Class ngga ganti2 modelnya karena dengan model sekarang pun masih cukup laris dan diminati kaum elit !

BMW 7 series ini berubahnya (faceliftnya) cepat karena banyak di-complain oleh para BMW fans, makanya facelift 7 series ini dipercepat. Biasanya model-model BMW itu kan pada umumnya baru di-facelift secara total setiap 7 atau 8 tahun (lihat 5 series, 3 series dan 7 series yg lama), sedangkan BMW 7 series ini umurnya baru sekitar 3 tahunan, udah di-facelift karena designnya yg tidak disukai oleh para penggemar BMW.

Hmmm emang bener juga. Dan setelah face lift total seri 7, saya yakin ngga lama lagi seri 5 akan mengalami face lift total (mengikuti sang kakak).

Dan emang sampe skarang pun saya kurang suka dengan design BMW terbaru yang penuh kontroversial. Bahkan saya lebih prefer ke model BMW lama ( Seri 7 lama yang panjang itu, keren banget. Terus Seri 5 yang terkesan elegan dan sporty. Seri 3 yang penuh dengan auro sport ).

Yah moga2 seri 3 baru nanti tidak begitu mengecewakan, karena seri 3 adalah tulang punggungnya BMW. Penjualan Seri 3 di tanah air mengalahkan C-Class dari MB.

I don't think so, saya rasa BMW 5 series yg terbaru tidak akan mengalami major facelift anytime soon spt the BMW 7 series. Design 5 series ini disini Amrik mendapat beberapa awards karena dianggap sbg the best automobile design in the world, majalah Forbes juga memberikan award "The Best Automobile Under $60,000" kpd BMW 5 series yg terbaru. Memang ada critics yg mengatakan dalam soal handling, lebih bagus BMW 5 series yg lama (th. 97-2003) daripada yg BMW 5 series yg terbaru ini, tapi banyak juga yg memuji performance BMW 5 series yg baru.

Walaupun ada segelintir org yg men-complain tentang design BMW 5 series yg terbaru ini, mayoritas U.S. consumers kelihatannya sangat suka dgn design "eagle eyes"-nya BMW 5 series yg terbaru karena dianggap sangat garang dan elegant. Kemunculan 5 series yg terbaru ini lebih dapat diterima oleh masyarakat US daripada 7 series.

Mengenai penjualan BMW 3 series yg melebihi C-class, itu tidaklah heran, dan bukan cuma di Indonesia saja, melainkan juga di Amerika dan Eropa. Not only dalam soal penjualan, overall performance dan engineering juga sebenarnya lebih unggul BMW 3 series daripada MB C-class, dan keunggulan BMW 3 series over C-class ini sudah diakui oleh para automobile critics dan selalu mendapat predikat "BEST PICK" di majalah-majalah spt Consumer Reports, Car and Drivers, dsb. selama bertahun-tahun terakhir. Posisi ranking 1 sbg "BEST PICK" yg dipegang oleh BMW 3 series selama bertahun-tahun terakhir ini tanpa bisa dikalahan, akhirnya baru-barusan ini tergeser oleh Nissan Infinity G35. Begitu Nissan Infinity G35 keluar, mobil ini langsung menggeser posisi BMW 3 series sbg mobil entry level luxury terbaik in terms of engineering, handling, performance, and overall value. Dengan kemunculan Infinity G35 ini, posisi BMW 3 series tergeser ke posisi ke-2.

wah wah seri 5 yang baru kok kalo dilihat dari depan gril nya lucu yah kayak ngangkat gitu.kayak hidung yang di angkat keatas gitu hehehe.
lagian kok seri 7 yang mau di facelift itu model lampu nya mirip mirip vios yah hehehe.

Wah2 ... INFINITI ya ... Itu kan masih ada hubungan darah dengan NISSAN ... Ckckc ... Hebat juga ya tuh sedan. Kapan masuk sini ? Gw demen banget liat model yang 2 pintunya.

Emang sih mungkin di Amrik sana, seri 5 mendapat banyak pujian. Dan mungkin juga laris. Tapi untuk Asia mungkin sangat parah penjualannya. Seri E-Class from Mercy masih lebih banyak berkeliaran. Yah setidaknya seri 5 masih tertolong di Amrik sana. Kalo di tanah air sih, seri 5 jarang banget yg berkeliaran.

Hahaha, ini bukan masalah orang Asia atau Barat, ini lebih condong ke selera individual. Wong di Amerika saja juga engga 100% semua suka kok. Yang namanya setiap individual kan punya selera sendiri tho? Ada yg suka, ada yg engga, yah itu sangat normal, sama spt kalo DigitAll melihat cewe cakep, belum tentu cewe itu cakep di mata daku :wink:

chairman bmw sendiri ngakuin kalo KAMI melakukan lompatan yang terlalu radikal katanya.

seri 5 coooll dalam nya keren lampu depan nya lumayan lah walaupun di beri alis.kalo lampu belakang nya sih ada yang bilang mirip city,lalu ada yg bilang mirip 406.dalam nya lumayan lah kemarin udah liat.ada i drive dan bla bla bla.cuman kalo liat gril nya kayak nya ngilani ngangkat gitu.saya sih lebih suka gril nya E46 face lift lebih manis.

Emang lebih tepatnya selera setiap individual. Tapi selera orang Asia, rata2 kurang suka dengan New BMW seri 5 ini.

Mungkin di Amerika sana lebih banyak yang suka seri 5 baru dibandingkan dengan orang2 Asia. Tapi tetap balik lagi ke selera masing2.

Mpoezz juga ternyata tidak suka dengan model seri 5 baru ini ... bahkan pihak BMW sendiri pun rasanya kurang suka dengan design radikal Chris Bangle ...

ah ngak emang selera amerika kan rada aneh.
gua liat camry nya amerika ama camry nya jepang beda jauh.
lalu honda odysey nya jepang ama amrik bo a bo jauh banget,yang amerika jelek habis.
lalu kalo accord juga beda.
biasa kan selera nya masing masing.
ngak juga sih ngak liat yang desain.
rasanya E46 dan E39 juga bikinan bangle,
cuman mungkin dia udah bosan bikin model yang biasa biasa aja mau yang lebih futuristik

Soalnya........... current BMW 7 series (th. 2001 - Present) yg walaupun banyak dikritiki itu ternyata total penjualannya malah melampaui model 7 series yg lama. Ini daku attached artikelnya dibawah (paragraph yg menyinggung mengenai penjualan BMW 7 series yg ber-design sangat controversial itu sengaja daku bold-in biar lebih gampang ngelihatnya) :)



BMW launches crucial 5-series in Europe

FRANKFURT, Germany -- BMW launches its new-model offensive in earnest Saturday as its redesigned 5-series cars go on sale in Europe -- a make-or-break product launch that will determine profits for years to come.

The 5-series, wedged between the smaller, mass-market 3-series and the high-end 7-series, had only about 20 percent of BMW's sales volume last year but contributes an estimated 35-40 percent of the Munich-based carmakers profits.

Last remade in 1995, it's the most important new design in BMW's high-stakes attempt to shake up its product line this year and next. The X3 sport-utility vehicle and 6-series luxury coupe will follow later this year, with the small 1-series "baby BMW" to follow next year.

The 5-series "is the backbone of BMW's business," said Georg Stuerzer, auto stocks analyst at HVB bank in Munich.

For the new model, the company's American design chief, Christopher Bangle, softened some of the style departures that led to sharp differences of opinion over 2001's new 7-series and even an Internet campaign against the new model.

The 5-series softens the sharply raised trunk lid that some critics attacked in the 7-series, and the company simplified the iDrive knob that combines controls for things like the sound system and heating. Some auto critics derided iDrive as too complicated when it appeared in the 7-series.

Customers haven't seemed to mind since the new 7-series continues to sell a bit better than its predecessor, analysts say.

Stuerzer said the company's older models were sometimes criticized as too conservative and looking too much alike. "Now the model differences are much sharper," he said.

He said the 5-series' technical advances, such as an active steering system that improves handling by adjusting steering response for different speeds, will give it an advantage against competitors such as the Mercedes E-class that should outweigh any concerns about the styling.

The new models should boost company earnings over the next three to four years, Stuerzer said.

The 520 version with a 2.5-liter engine starts at $40,360 at current exchange rates.

The car goes on sale in Britain and the United States in the fall. U.S. prices have not been set yet and will be different from the European prices, the company says.

cuman rasanya kalo di jalan an surabaya lebih banyak s klasse yang berkeliaran sehari bisa ketemu 3-4 mobil.kalo seri 7 cuman 3 kali aja baru pernah liat.
di gudang showroom
di jalan an dua kali itu juga bukan plat L.
ngak tau kalo di jakarta

seri 7 dalam nya keren tapi sayang dulu bekas ktt di bali mobil nya di obral padahal kasta tertinggi nya bmw.dari 1.8 M di jual 1.3 M aja.
lalu 520i nya ditutun in jadi 365 jt kalo ngak salah padahal baru cuman dipakai ktt aja.jalan nya ngak sampai 2 rb km jangan jangan kurang.
cuman untuk E38 yang udah EDC aja ganti sok beker nya 30 jt an.mending milih E46 ato E39 lebih irit ngak begitu jebol in kantong.
ngak tau nih si seri 7 baru ato seri 5 baru spare part nya mahal ngak.tapi rasanya udah ada service inclusive kalo ngak salah.

Emang bener kalo di sini lebih banyak S-Class. Di Bandung aja saya juga sering liat. Kalo model S-Class Face Lift baru liat beberapa kali.

Kalo seri 7 baru itu langka banget. Paling juga baru liat 2 kali. Memang populasi seri 7 baru di Indo sedikit sekali. Begitu juga seri 5 baru ...

iya bahkan di sini ada yang pake s600 facelift udah ketemu berapa kali.lalu new eyes yang baru banyak banget.
apa kah harga bmw yang kemahalan ato mercy nya yang murah ato kebalik.

Bukan harga BMW yang kemahalan. Karena setau saya, harga BMW masih lebih murah dibandingkan dengan MB, kecuali X5 dan seri 7.

Mungkin kurang laku itu gara2 modelnya yang tidak terkesan mewah dan bahkan aneh. Lihat aja seri 5 baru. Modelnya baru, tapi koq ngga keliatan lebih mewah. Justru model sebelumnya lebih mewah ... Entah dengan seri 5 baru versi CKD yang lebih murah. Mungkin akan laris nantinya. Karena versi CKD ini hampir lebih murah 100 jutaan. Kalo tampilan seri 5 baru mau keren, sebaiknya tuh bumper dan spoiler diganti dengan yang model M5.

Pas saya liat model M5 baru itu, saya juga langsung jatuh cinta !

kalo ckd lebih murah
1 sih pajak,lalu ada optional yang di kurangin katanya sih sunroof
tapi ya itu biar gimanapun ckd ama cbu rasanya lebih sip CBU yah hehehe

Seharusnya sih sama aja ya. Karena CKD lokal juga sudah memiliki standar internasional. Bahkan pihak BMW Jerman pun sudah mensurvei sebelumnya, sekaligus meninjau quality controlnya.

Mengenai optional yang dikurangin dalam versi CKD, apa bener bung mpoezz? Waktu saya baca di sebuah majalah, menurut majalah tsb. BMW seri 5 versi CBU dan CKD sama persis, begitu juga optionalnya.
