New Lexus LS 460 & LS 600 ! Mainstream car perfected ?
Lexus relentlessly pursues promotion with world's first all-car orchestra
Some of the most interesting marketing campaigns of the last 100 years has come from automakers, and Lexus is doing its best to capture buyers' imaginations with the technical prowess of the new LS sedans. First came a multimedia blitz centered around the hands-free parallel parking capabilities of the Lexus flagship, and now the premium tunes of the LS 460's Mark Levinson audio system are on display in a unique way. The LS 460's impressive sound system (which is part of a nearly $8,000 option package here in the US) includes 450 total watts coming from 19 speakers per vehicle, but the folks from Aichi want to show UK buyers that the system is good enough for a full-blown orchestra.
The London Symphony Orchestra is teaming up with Lexus GB to perform a concert using the sound systems of 12 Lexus LS 460s. Each car will contain the music for one instrument section, and all music will be coordinated form a central digital sound desk. Concert-goers will be invited inside the LS 460 to hear the music up close and watch a video on how the performance was created It culminates in the full-blown concert-by-car-stereo. We know the LS 460 is a very nice luxury car with what is undoubtedly a killer sound system, but how tough is it to be entertained in the UK? Seriously, your average pub has a 5,000 watt sound system, and they play good music and serve food and drinks.

Lexus LS 600 '07 with its biggest luxo-barge

Not that Lexus is a big, bad wolf in any way, but at the Chauffeur Drive '07, they might as well be the only sponsor of the event, because it'll be their show. All the luxury amenities, stylishness, gadgets to make a technophile moist, and the fact that it's a hybrid will make the LS 600h L the couture d'elegance of businessmen and money-pit well-dippers too important or self-important to drive themselves.
The show itself is intended to be the gleeful high point of the year for professional drivers in Europe. It will take place at Surrey's Dunsfold Park, the place where Top Gear likes to play with cars, videotape them and call it work. There will be presentations on all things chauffeuring, from rules and regulations to starting your own company, as well as a used limo lot, where those who attended the latter seminar can purchase their first fleet cars.
Included below is a gallery of the LS 600h L at Hybrid Fest 2007. It was notably imposing but not overstated, and I did like the blue-background Lexus logo, matching the LED headlights. Too bad it was locked with no keys in sight.
By the way, if you're a cabbie, that means you aren't a chauffeur. All it'll take, however, is a little air-freshener, some calmer and safer driving habits, a more strict personal grooming regimen, and a vehicle not swathed in an obnoxious color, and they'll welcome you with open arms at the Chauffeur Drive '08.
Visitors to the show will be among the first to preview the LS 600h priced from £81,400 and LS 600h L, the long-wheel base version, before its UK on-sale date of 1st October. Featuring the world's first full-time all-wheel drive hybrid V8 powertrain, along with more sophisticated array of preventive, active and passive features than any car in its class, the LS 600h will set new standards in luxury motoring. A superb specification will ensure owners enjoy supreme comfort, convenience and on-board entertainment.
Advanced technologies including pre-crash safety systems that can detect collision hazards both on the road ahead and from the rear, Adaptive Variable Suspension and the world's first application of LED technology for low beam headlight illumination, are dovetailed with the skills of master craftsmen to achieve a high luxury finish in the paintwork, fine leather upholstery, hand-trimmed dashboard and real wood cabin trim features.
The LS 600h L can be additionally specified with a Rear Seat Relaxation Pack that provides even higher levels of comfort. The left hand rear seat gains an extending ottoman leg and thigh rest, seat cushion airbag and variable massage function. An independent DVD system, centre console with extending wood-inlaid tray are also part of the pack, together with a more advanced climate control system that uses body temperature sensors to determine optimum performance.

gw pernah masuk ke kabin LS460 yang udah pake option mark levinson 19 speakers.....emang mantep banget suaranya....merc sama BMW kalah lah kalo soal audio. waktu itu pintu/jendela dibuka pun, suara musik masih bulet banget walaupun didenger dari luar mobil. tapi kalo soal eskterior, S class baru tetep tak terkalahkan!!!!!

Menurut sy sih mobil ini keren, and no doubt bakal bagus penjualannya di luar negeri (khususnya di US yah, mengingat main market Lexus memang di US). Kalau dibanding S-Class sih, dr review2 yg sy baca (maklum, ga mampu nyetir sendiri mobil mahal gini, hehe), untuk driving dynamics merc masih unggul, tp Lexus ini juga sudah sangat bagus koq, dan dengan value yg lbh baik... Intinya gap antara german car dan japanese sudah semakin nipis, tinggal tergantung selera saja 
Untuk Lexus LS600h agak kontroversial yah kayanya ? Secara sales & technological point of view sih bagus. Tapi ada yang bilang acceleration #s and mpg figuresnya ga beda jauh sama LS460 karena additional weight dari AWD & Hybrid dengan price tag yg sudah over $100,000 di US...

Untuk Lexus LS600h agak kontroversial yah kayanya ? Secara sales & technological point of view sih bagus. Tapi ada yang bilang acceleration #s and mpg figuresnya ga beda jauh sama LS460 karena additional weight dari AWD & Hybrid dengan price tag yg sudah over $100,000 di US...

merc S class bokongnya gak tahan .....mirip maybach tapi lebih sporti......lexus LS kalo gw bilang model luarnya itu ampir2 mirip kaya model2 mewah jepang lainnya alias Jepang banget!

Gue udah nanya tuh ama ATPM Lexus yang dijalan proklamasi, yang LS 460 L (long) itu sekitar 2.1 Million, masih CBU dan kayaknya gak bakalan ada yang CKD untuk tahun2 awal, secara satu yang pasti kalau build quality Lexus itu sudah terbukti diatas trio german (Audi-BMW-Merc), jadi kayaknya CKD masih jauh deh. Yang LS 600 masih dalam proses pembicaraan katanya. Gak bakal dimasukin sampai Toyota decide kalau Prius udah boleh dikasih green lightadisantosa wrote:Keren tuh mobil...

kalo build quality kayaknya mobil eropa masih bagus deh bro....seenggaknya sama lah dengan Lexus. It's all in the driving, or is it?
To quote the chief designer of the Lexus LS 460, Yo Hiruta: "The ratio of design cost to total car cost is higher for Lexus than for other cars."
You could have fooled us. Perhaps we're being too harsh, but assessing the new Lexus LS 460 in light of Mr. Hiruta's statement does lend some clarity to our ambivalence about this fourth generation of Lexus' flagship sedan. It's a car we deeply respect and admire, but it's not one that has swept us off our feet. While we value its comfort, impeccable build quality and expected reliability, what we love most about cars is driving them, and the LS 460 falls just short of delivering the snappy, precise control of the road we covet most. If we were somehow penalized to give up our driver license, we can think of few other cars in which we'd rather be the passenger.
Still, despite some areas we feel could use some improvement  a too-soft suspension, grabby brakes, uninspired styling  there is no disputing the LS 460's rightful place at the head of the Lexus fleet.

Yup, thats why it's called "mainstream car perfected". karena 90% orang beli mobil, lebih nyari nyaman, empuk, daya tahan. Bukan driving dynamics etc.
Ironic isn't it ? kata lainnya, buat disupirin, karena kalau untuk nyetir sendiri, IMHO The Germans still have the upper hand.

Kalo cuman as passanger, ntar mesinnya yg brutal itu "mubazir" donk...

Tapi benar jg sih, semua mobil lux itu sebenarnya mubazir. 1/3 harga dari RP 2 M udah dapat mobil yg nyaman dan kencengnya nggak jauh beda.
walaaah... omongan orang yg nggak mampu beli mobil mewah...

Tapi kebayang juga... lagi naik Lexus warna pearl white.. dibelakang metro mini yang asapnya hitam..... wah sedih banget kali ya.....
Kemarin di jalan Tol Pondok Pinang ada Innova pakai logo Lexus..... kreatif juga ya... atau memang Innova ada highclass nya ya ??? hehheheeee.

Iya lah... Merc atau Bimmer semua SatPam Hotel / Gedung perkantoran juga pada tahu itu pasti mobil boss... jadi selalu dikasih tempat khusus...
