iya, seharusnya memang mematikan mesin, tp namanya pom bensin ada aja bekas oli, bensin2 dll.. kyanya orang2 (pengguna mobil) jg jarang mematikan mesin sembari menuggu bensin (yg gw liat matiin mesin malah pengendara motor)
jd mengkhawatirkan.. :(

Memahami suatu masalah memang perlu dilihat secara keseluruhan,tdk sepotong2 apalagi lsg loncat pd kesimpulan.Dri artikel yg ada pd posted link,(terlalu panjang kalo di copas semua disini,silahkan dibaca sendiri) bisa disimak point2 penting permasalahannya :
How Catalytic Converters Get Hot

Catalysts reduce emissions by accelerating the combustion of pollutants leaving the engine. In doing this job, they get hot. The outside metal temperatures of some types of converters may approach 800 to 1000 F under conditions of extremely high engine loading. However, measurements by the United States Forest Service have shown surface temperatures equally as high in the exhaust systems of pre-1975 cars at extreme engine load conditions. Therefore, with this discovery, catalytic converter surface temperatures do not represent a new type of problem for automobile manufacturers and users as long as the engine is running properly.

sya ngak ngerti kalo running idle 20 menit termasuk"extremely high engine load".......

Fires May Still Happen

The EPA has received reports of vehicle and vegetation fires in which catalysts were involved from both vehicle owners and from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), an organization which has been monitoring the frequency of such incidents with individual manufacturers. In some cases, it appears that combustible undercoating material had been applied to the catalyst and other exhaust system hardware. In most cases, vehicles were also reported to have been running badly with evidence of nonfiring spark plugs or other ignition system defects. If an abnormal amount of unburned fuel is fed to any catalyst, which occurs when the engine is misfiring in one or more cylinders, the catalyst will attempt to "do its job" by burning this fuel instead of simply expelling it out the exhaust pipe as the case with older cars. When this happens, the surface temperature of the catalyst container and the exhaust pipe can become abnormally hot, possibly leading to charring or burning of undercoating inadvertently sprayed on the catalyst or exhaust system, charring of floor mats in the car, or ignition of dry vegetation if the vehicle is operated off-road. Vehicle service manuals caution against applying undercoating on the catalyst of exhaust systems.

It should be noted that vegetation fires caused by hot automobile exhaust systems occurred before the advent of catalyst-equipped cars, and will occur in the future. The Forest Service has periodically conducted tests of cars for fire hazards since 1967 because of the long-standing concern by that agency over vehicle-induced fires in national forest recreational areas.
Kebakaran tanaman yg terjadi oleh saluran gas buang juga terjadi sebelum CC lahir........ sorri nih inggris sya kurang bagus ,jdi yg lain mungkin bisa bantu ...

Direcall karena kemungkinan kebocoran oli power steering yg netes ke CC , jadi bukan masalh di CC nya. masalh bad design layout dari CC.

Setelah jelas permasalah ditambah sadar bahayanya( musti),sy yakin jadi aman..... tapi kalo mau dilepas juga ya itu hak yg punya mobil khan?....

Ya kalo memang tanpa CC toh kita bisa memaintain kondisi pembakaran mesin sehingga tetap lolos uji emisi, ya disimpan aja lah CC itu...

3..Betul,Untuk standard Euro1/2 mungkin tanpa CC masih bisa lolos,itupun dgn catatan kondisi engine musti prima and well maintained periodically(sya ngak tahu persis ,tanpa CC masuk euro berapa).Tapi untuk,katakanlah euro 4 atau 5 dgn persyaratan emisi yg begitu rendah...rasanya dgn tehnologi ICE sekarang sulit lolos tanpa bantuan CC.. atau mungkin malah nanti ada temuan baru pengganti CC,siapa tahu.Tapi saat ini,itulah pilihan terbaik.

Mau tanya, apakah Catalic Converter ada usia pakai? Karena kotoran yang menumpuk mengakibatkan CC mapet? Mohon pencerahan.

Hasrat produsen boil di negara kita sebenarnya terlalu nafsu,atau saya katakan "Nafsunya besar, tenaga nggak ada :capede: kalau mau pasang namanya standar Euro1/2.
Kita itu ada di mana? kita kan di Asean ,di Indonesia.Mau pakai Standar Eropa percuma aja ,jalan aja masih semrawut,peraturanya jalan raya nggak nggenah,dan sebagainya. :mrgreen:
Gampangnya aja untuk masalah CC yang di pasang karena standar Euro,untuk meminimal polusi.
Lah kenapa juga Pemerintah,pertamina masih biarkan bensinya bertimbal :e-doh: ,bikin dulu BBM yang berkualitas Eropa dan pasang di se antero Nusantara,baru kita berani pasang aksi standar Eouro. :e-whistle:

kalau saya masih pakai sampai bener bener rusak,kalau udah rusak udah copot aja.kata orang TAM dan DAI Avansa Xenia CC nya akan tahan sampai 100.000 KM walau maksa pakai bensin bertimbal.
saya nggak percaya,soalnya nggak ada yang jamin,dan lagi sampai sekarang juga belon pernah dengar Mereka punya alat untuk mengukur atau memeriksa apakah CC nya masih bener apa enggak..? Lucu yah... :ungg: please CMIW

Setahu saya bbm kita sdh bebas timbal ,tapi yg pasti Pertamax sdh unleaded....

Sebenarnya kita ngak perlu repot periksa CC sendiri,untuk jenis advance ECM sdh ada self diagnostic test, yaitu parameter sebelum dan sesudah CC diperbandingkan atau istilah program close loop. ECM akan memberitahukan kalo CC ada kelainan . sya ngak tahu persis Av/Xen masuk jenis mana..... so Dont Worry, Be Happy.... hehehe.... :e-whistle: :e-whistle: :e-whistle:

Kalo di bengkel knalpot merek bikinnya Downpipe plong sebagai pengganti downpipe dgn CC di mesin2 Honda

Tapi lubang dudukkan utk Oxygen sensor tetap ada

Pak Turbo, berarti downpipe freeflow + lubang untuk sensor? Pertanyaan selanjutnya, supaya tenaga low-mid tetap ada, sebaiknya pipa lebih kecil / lebih besar dari pipa asli nya?

Cerita sedikit, hari ini sudah di lepas CC nya dan bbrp honeycomb nya rontok.. Jadi diputuskan untuk lepas CC.

Cat conv sudah diganti dengan kansai ber resonator.. dan honeycomb cat yg lama mmg rontok se rontok2 nya..

so far keluhannya hanya bau dan cukup berisik kalau half throttle.
