PARIS MOTOR SHOW

It's "a new kind of compact car. A new departure in Suzuki design", says the company of its new Swift, unveiled today. Well, it's an improvement on the old one, and is no bad-looker, at least: it's roomy and modern, and promises to be pretty sporty. Suzuki claims that it has worked with a new, dedicated team of designers and engineers, in collaboration with "European automotive professional and ordinary motoring enthusiasts" and that the Swift "gives an exciting glimpse of the new ideas and design approaches that will shape Suzuki models in years to come."

The car has been developed as a global product, but with extensive testing and evaluation in Europe. The Swift will be offered with a choice of three engines: 1.3 and 1.5-litre petrol units, or 1.3 diesel, and a choice of five-speed manual, five-speed automated manual (clutchless sequential-shift) or traditional four-speed auto gearboxes. The suspension has been tuned for agility, and Suzuki says that its wide tyres, overall width and long wheelbase enhance stability. The new front-end layout has the lower suspension arms, steering gearbox and rear engine mounting all attached to the subframe, for greater rigidity, and the rear suspension is by torsion beams, a space-efficient set-up which allows for a wide, flat boot floor.
With sporty interior trim and instruments influenced by those of Suzuki's powerful sports motorbikes, the Swift also promises to be comfortable, with multi-adjustable front seats and steering column; Suzuki claims superior refinement and quality. Suzuki has developed the power steering for a more direct feel, and worked on the brakes for more incisive stopping power. Equipment will include ABS with EBD and brake assist, a keyless start system with remote locking, 60:40 split/tumble-folding rear seats, remote tailgate unlocking and a series of cabin storage compartments. Prices for the UK haven't been released yet.


NB. Menurut berita Suzuki Swift akan dipasarkan mulai awal tahun 2005.

Gw uda liat ini Swift di pamerin di Medan Fair Plaza, Medan.

Exterior-nya oke banget, apalagi yg warna Orange.
Tapi sayang, interior untuk penumpang belakang kurang lega, mirip2 ama Picanto gitu.

Masih lebih lega Jazz.
Tapi exterior-nya yg bikin gak tahannnn..........

Harga manual transmission di Medan, sekitar 165 juta, yg otomatis 175 juta.
