The vehicle is left-hand drive to conform with overseas export market requirements. The Reiger shock absorbers from Holland give the vehicle a regulation 300 mm of wheel travel at the rear and 250 mm at the front. The suspension and live axle were designed and custom made in South Africa. Ground clearance is 300 mm and the vehicle conforms to the 1 937 kg weight class with two spare wheels fitted at the back. Special Rally Raid competition tyres are made by BF Goodrich.

Toyota HiLux still king of the road

A workhorse that has built its reputation as a tough vehicle in the outback and on worksites around the country, the Toyota HiLux was Australia's top-selling car last month.



And in yet another sign of our changing tastes in cars, the Holden Commodore, which ruled the sales race in Australia for 15 consecutive years, had one of its worst results ever.

The one-time king of the road could manage just fifth place in April, falling behind its locally made stablemate, the Cruze. It was also outsold by the HiLux, Mazda3 and Toyota Corolla.

In WA, it fared even worse with 14 cars, including the HiLux, Nissan Navara, Mitsubishi Triton and Ford Ranger utes, outselling the large sedan

Sales figures released by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries last week showed that 3565 customers bought a HiLux in April. It is the sixth time in the past five years that the HiLux has been Australia's top-selling vehicle - and it is the only ute to have achieved the milestone.

It also marked a return to full supply of the HiLux after stock shortages caused by natural disasters in Japan and Thailand last year.

As Toyota started to regain the stranglehold on the Australian market it enjoyed before the Japanese tsunami and Thai floods, local car makers Holden and Ford were relegated to third and fifth places respectively.

Holden's position was made worse by an absence of Colorado stock ahead of the local launch of its next-generation Thai-built ute next month.

Holden can at least console itself that Commodore sales looked respectable compared with Ford's Falcon, which stumbled to 1009 - down 30.7 per cent on April last year - with the launch of the new four-cylinder EcoBoost variant coming too late in the month to save the big Ford from one of its worst monthly results.

And all of this happened in a month in which sales were up 6.6 per cent nationally (79,097), compared to the same time last year (74,214).

In WA the growth was even more impressive with sales up 10 per cent or 3476 vehicles.

Mazda continued on from its record first-quarter sales performance with a best-ever April total of 7681, putting it second behind Toyota in overall sales for the month.

While the Japanese importer enjoyed strong demand across its range, it was the new CX-5 that led the charge with more than 1400 sales in just its second month on the market.

The biggest winner among the top 10 motor companies last month was Volkswagen, which ousted Mitsubishi from seventh spot with a 25.3 per cent jump in month sales volume, to 3798 units.

While sales of VW's top-seller, the Golf, slipped 48 per cent, the leeway was made up by a 460 per cent leap in Tiguan sales, to 846 units, Amarok 4x4 (up 542 per cent) and Jetta (up 160 per cent).

Mitsubishi was the biggest loser last month, with sales sliding 29 per cent to just 3748 units.

Jualan perdana Prius lebih diterima konsumen ketimbang rival Volt dan Leaf.

California, KompasOtomotif - Toyota Amerika Serikat telah melakukan langkah "nekad" dalam mengumumkan penjualan Prius plug-in untuk periode enam bulan pertama (Maret-Agustus 2012). Disebutkan bahwa kendaraan ramah lingkungan mereka telah terjual 6.061 unit dan diklaim lebih banyak dari dua pesaingnya yang sudah lebih dulu memasarkannya, yakni Chevrolet dengan Volt plug-in 2.745 unit dan Nissan Leaf 3.875 unit.
Toyota mengatakan, "jumlah itu menunjukkan momentum yang baik dan mendorongan penjualan penuh pada enam bulan pertama yang lebih baik dari Volt Plug In dan Leaf ."
Padahal, General Motors sudah melansir data resmi penjualan Chevrolet Volt sepanjang Januari-Agustus sudah mencapai 13.497 unit. Kalau mau dibandingkan dengan bulan yang sama (apple to apple) dan membuang hitungan Januari (603 unit) dan Februari (1.023 unit), total jualan Maret-Agustus masih lebih tinggi, 11.871 unit.
Sedangankan Nissan sudah menyebarkan rilis penjualan mengatakan Leaf berhasil terlego jual 4.228 unit sepanjang delapan bulan pertama tahun ini. Untuk periode Maret-Agustus saja, jualan tercatat 3.074 unit, sehingga masih lebih tinggi dari Prius "plug in".
Ternyata, Toyota Amerika melakukan manipulasi data agar mendapat posisi penjualan lebih baik ketimbang dua rivalnya itu. Penjualan enam bulan pertama Prius plug In itu dibandingkan dengan enam bulan perdana ketika Volt dan Leaf juga diluncurkan ke pasar. Jadi bukan mengacu data penjualan bulan ini!
Perbandingan data yang dilakukan Toyota tidak setara atau "apple to apple". Dengan teknik ini Toyota berusaha menjadikan mobil yang punya rata-rata konsumsi bahan bakar 95 mpg (40,3 kpl) itu terlihat lebih laris ketimbang pendahulunya

Forbes columnist takes stab at GM's 'scams' with Chevy Volt sales numbers

A Forbes piece is blasting the Chevrolet Volt as a failure again, calling General Motors out for what the magazine says is a manipulation of sales numbers for the extended-range electric vehicle.

The publication has published an editorial by contributor Patrick Michaels which accused the automaker of "giving away rent-a-Volts," saying the model's record-high sales of 2,831 units last month were artificially inflated because about two-thirds of the sales were leased (for as little as $199 a month). Michaels argues that true sales to the general public are closer to about 850 units a month. Further fueling the opinion piece's claims of a government "scam" are recent reports that the U.S. Department of Defense will buy 1,500 Volts. In Michaels' words, "The fact is that no one wants this car."

As you likely recall, Reuters recently reported that GM may be losing almost $50,000 on each Volt sold, a claim that was judged to not stand up to arithmetic scrutiny – a contention that was quickly refuted by former GM executive Bob Lutz (in the pages of Forbes, no less).

And just think, there are only 12 days until GM's monthly sales numbers for September to come out. We can only wonder what we'll hear about then.

Bisa2 pindah hati lg ke hyundai.. harga sama tapi dgn spec n fitur yg jauh lbh canggih
