Well, its better to be a BIG fish in a small pond than vice versa. Saya ke dealer mana pernah pintu di bukain ?

3rd row Fortuner lebih sempit banding Innova juga masuk akal. Lihat Terrano. Kenapa dia cabinnya sempit ? Soalnya ground clearancenya sangat tinggi. Kalau overall heightnya ngak naik lebih dari 1850 mm, ya pasti ke " Compress " cabinnya.

Since U can afford the 4x4, artinya yr treasury not bad lah ! Kalau gitu, U can let yr wife and kids enjoy the c24, while U hunt for money in yr Fortuner ! Thats the best combination I can think of for U Mr. Obs.

Rabu kemaren (18 Mei) gw kebetulan lewat Arteri Pondok Indah, sempat liat Toyota Fortuner warna item di pajang di depan satu IU, sayang ga tau IU yang mana (IU nya ada di tengah2 kantor Oto sama Fuji Image)

Fortunernya dipajang di depan next to Alphard...

C24? Space-wise, maybe, but when it comes to driving joys, she's going to really enjoy the new A150, right, Mr. Observer? Can't wait for the A150's review..

The last thing my wife would drive (or that I would let her drive) is the C24, or Fortuner.

They're too big for her.

Btw, this car turns out to be a huge success in Thailand and Philippine, with 3-4 month waiting list, and in thailand, it has now >70% SUV market share. See this link:

Some interesting data from that article :

PASSENGER CARS

Toyota stamped its authority by taking more than 50% of the passenger car market despite seeing April sales slipping to 7,537 units. Even so, the Soluna, Corolla and Camry continued to be the hit models despite being in the market for quite some time already.

Honda is hoping to emulate Toyota's success in the fleet market with the help of a new entry-level Accord. Thailand is the only country in the world to get a 2.0-litre engine for the Accord which could prove vital in cornering the Camry 2.0.

While Honda and Toyota enjoyed sales of over 5,000 units in April, other brands couldn't manage a thousand. Nissan, for instance, was in a distant third with sales of just 821 units.

Although not a threat to big-time players, Mazda continued to make strides with the 3 compact saloon and hatchback. Some 455 of the 3 were sold last month, representing a six-fold increase over the same period last year. Mazda Sales (Thailand) is now contemplating adding the 1.6-litre engine to the hatchback to boost sales.

SUVs

The Fortuner is still selling like hot cakes, despite a waiting period of three months for the diesel version that accounts for almost 90% of Fortuner sales. Last month, 2,331 units were sold representing 70% share of the SUV market.

Other players only managed to gape at the Fortuner juggernaut. Ford sold 253 units, Isuzu 250, Honda 118, and Mazda 115.

Memang masyarakat Thailand sudah jauh lebih maju, dan mereka bisa appreciate teknologi diesel modern yang sangat cocok digunakan pada SUV daripada mesin bensin. Makanya 90% Fortuner yang terjual disana adalah versi Diesel, dan kelebihan versi 2.7L bensin yang hanya terjual sedikit di sana, dilemparkan ke pasar Indonesia.

Tak heran juga bahwa Toyota Vitz yang akan diluncurkan di Thailand pada akhir tahun ini juga akan ada versi diesel 1.4L! Dan tentu akan laris, karena sangat irit bahan bakar dan sesunyi mesin bensin.

Fortuner waiting list: 10 months

Fortuner shares the same engine and platform as the new Hilux pickup and the Innova wagon that had been launched earlier.

The Hilux itself has a three-month waiting list, a phenomenon last seen when customers rushed to buy the Honda CR-V before the excise tax deadline to avail themselves of Honda's skillful dodging of the so-called "10-cheater rule."

According to Isla, Toyota Thailand even has a longer, one-year waiting list for the Fortuner, which he claims had stolen the market from Isuzu, the traditional Thai SUV king.

Hear Mr. Conan, banyak orang bilang fortuner mirip Lexus RX 300 neh. So bisa dibilang fortuner spt twin dgn RX 300 with additional tempat duduk baris ke 3, bukan big brother dari Taruna Oxxy neh (walaupun sekilas mirip seh kalo diliat dari foto

Dari belakang, mirip Harrier lama. Dari depan, mirip Taruna Oxxy raksasa. But I'm not saying it does not look good. Kekekeke.

Btw, kombinasi dari kondisi pasar Thailand yang berbeda dimana :
1) Harga Fortuner lebih murah di Thailand drpd di Indo, ditambah dengan pendapatan per kapita penduduk Thailand yang lebih tinggi, dan;
2) Pasar Thai yang sangat menyukai SUV dan double cabin; offroad vehicles karena faktor geografis di sana (seperti di Indo yang tergila2 dengan people carrier)

..membuatku yakin bahwa Fortuner lebih laku di sana daripada di Indo. Yah, seperti kebalikan Innova yang sangat amat laku di sini, tapi tidak di Thailand.

Nah, sekarang terlihat kan, bahwa Toyota membuat keputusan yang sangat TEPAT, dengan memilih Thailand untuk produksi Fortuner dan Indo untuk produksi Innova?

Ngak lah ! Mungkin juga lama soalnya jata Fortuner untuk Indo juga ada batasnya, seperti Grandis.

But there is no way a car yang hampir 300 juta bisa volumenya dekat ama model yang hampir separuh harganya.

Saya dengar Indo dapat sekitar 10,000 per tahun. Dan estimasi volume Fortuner max sekitar 1000 per month. So hampir seimbang ! The waiting list seharusnya ngak terlalu lama, unless the " New restaurant booking system " tactic is used.

Saya baru dapat brosurnya.
Jadi ada 3 varian, G, G lux, dan V.
Semuanya tipe bensin 2.700cc, dan hanya tipe V yang 4X4.
Bedanya antara G & G lux adalah jok kulit dan in-dash 6CD changer, sedangkan yang G hanya single CD dan jok bludru.
Bedanya antara G lux dan V hanya 4X2 vs 4X4, lainnya sama.
Indicative prices adalah: G - 293jt, G lux - 305jt, V - 351jt.

Jadi ngak murah juga!

Wah ! Bukan saja tidak ada PAHE, tapi harganya di atas perkiraan saya sekitar 250-280 for upper estimation.

Tumben ngak pakai E. Pakai G Lux. But I guess its correct, soalnya E kesannya cheap, seperti Innova E. So twist the alphabet and add a Lux.

Brochure di Auto 2000 sudah ada ? Wah, saya bisa minta yang berapa halaman lagi, dan jadikan bedtime reading book, like the Innova's...

293 juta for G ? Memang sudah ngak murah ini mobil. I will be surprised if this baby can sell at more than 1000 a month ! Like I said, mobil sebagus apapun, most people just don't have that kind of spare cash lying around, including me !

If the Fortuner ada versi 250 juta, X-Trail ama CRV bisa in danger. But now, with the difference of G and those 2 sekitar 36 juta, I think X-Trail ama CRV chance untuk tetap laris manis terbuka lebar.

Why ? After all, for many Indonesians yang suka Fortuner, selisih 36 juta is pretty big, big enough to persuade them to save the money and buy the cheaper compact X-Trails / CRVs.

Seperti berapa orang yang ngak mau Serena, malah ambil Innova soalnya selisih 30-60 juta sangat meaningful untuk mereka. And I agree. 36 juta bisa untuk operasi Caesar untuk istri berapa kali loh !

So if these prices are true, instead of Fortuner killing those 2, saya prediksi peta SUV jadi Sankok, tiga negara fighting for supremacy, but all 3 will still be strong.

Fortuner is thus quite an expensive car, no longer like Astra's old toys...

Dilihat dari mana pun juga, bagaimana mungkin Fortuner dijual '200 jutaan'? Sekalian saja Toyota bagi2 uang gratis, daripada burn cash sendiri.

I think the Fortuner is very well worth the price. To be precise, it's priced correctly.

Hmmm... toyota berarti tidak membidik segmen dibawah 250 juta-an neh. En itu kemungkinan besar susah untuk menjual dgn omzet diatas 1000 perbln. So gue setuju dgn pendapat Bung Szli berarti xtrail dan crv still have "kesempatan buat survive". Tingkat penjualan ke 3 nya kemungkinan berimbang.

kalo gitu bakal ada 4 pemain suv yg dominan di Indo.

Kelas bawah (dibawah 200 jt) dikuasai suzuki escudo.
Kelas tengah (200 - 250 jt) tetap dipegang x trail dan crv.
kelas tengah atas (250 - 350) bisa dipegang fortuner.
