New Honda Civic Hatchback

Dan di Afrika Selatan kedua model Civic akan tersedia :

The new Civic will be available in both four-door sedan and five-door hatchback guise, with the sedan the first to hit our shores, hopefully as early as December this year.

Eagle explained that four-door production was centred on the plant in Suzuka, Japan - close to Japan's Formula One circuit - while the hatchback models would be sourced from Honda's factory in Swindon, in the UK.

He said the four-door models would be first to arrive in SA as production was already being ramped up in Japan, but UK production would only start next year.

Yg exciting adalah mesin 2.2L diesel Honda :

The inclusion of the diesel model, expected to be approved for sale in SA once Honda Japan is happy that low-sulphur fuel is freely available throughout the country, will be a very positive step for the company, which until now has been forced to compete in an increasingly more diesel-oriented market with only petrol-driven cars.

The advanced 2.2-litre turbodiesel unit develops 101 kW and 340 Nm of torque.

Bandingkan dengan mesin 1.8L iVtec baru yg memberikan performa mesin 2.0L, tetap saja kalau jauh torque-nya, bahkan sampai DUA kali lipatnya! :

Initial models will be fitted with a new 1.8-litre i-VTEC engine.

Its new "intelligent" I-VTEC system switches the valve timing for maximum efficiency during pullaway and acceleration to achieve powerful performance with good torque output, and then delays intake valve closure timing during cruising and other low-load conditions for enhanced fuel economy.

Honda claims that the use of the valve timing control system gives this motor the performance of a 2-litre engine but the economy of a 1.5-litre unit.

Overall, the new engine delivers an output of 103 kW and maximum torque of 174 Nm

Mr. Obs, I'm not sure there will be a 3-door 'regular' hatchback. The reason is that Honda already incorporates the Alfa Romeo-style hidden rear door handles on the 5-door hatch. They do it for a reason. I mean, is there a 3-door Alfa 147?

Honda could save the 3-door bodystyle exclusively for a hi-performance version, though.

And what do you think of HPM having both Civics side-by-side? The locally assembled 4-door sedan and the CBU-imported hatch from UK? Their prices could differ as much as Rp 80 million, I believe. But I'd be glad to see the hatch as the much more exclusive one. I see it as the spiritual successor to the excellent Civic Estilo from the past.

Er, I found the answer to my own question (and answer). Looks like I was right :

After touring the factory we also visited the Suzuka circuit, where I was taken for a spin by one of the track's resident experts in one of the outgoing Civic Type R models - and told that Honda was trying to get the new version of the car for sale in South Africa when it hits production late next year.

This sizzling performance model will get wild bodywork add-ons as well as a modified engine with an expected power output of about 185 kW. It will only be available as a three-door.

But I have another question on my mind. Mr. Obs, Mr. Herry, please do share your opinions on this :

Pada berita tentang Civic type-R di atas, disebutkan bahwa Civic type-R, which will only be available as a 3-door, akan diproduksi di Jepang (konon akan menggunakan mesin dari Honda S2000 lama).

Tapi kita tahu bahwa Civic hatchback diproduksi di UK dan tidak tersedia di Jepang. Sementara, ada satu bodystyle lagi yaitu coupe (Civic Si di USA), yang juga tidak tersedia di Jepang.

Apakah the 3-door Civic Type-R akan menggunakan design Civic hatchback Euro (tinggal dikurangi 2 pintu), atau akan berbasis Civic sedan JDM, dan akan mirip dengan Civic coupe USDM (only with JDM front and rearlights)?

Ini karena pada generasi sekarang, hatchbacksnya masih datang dari Jepang, sama dengan sedan.
Generasi baru, hatchbacksnya datang dr UK (priced in Pounds/Euro). Jadi harganya akan mirip VW Golf MkV.

AGREED! Honda's 2.2 CTDi diesel engine is highly acclaimed, even better than BMW's diesels.

Wah bro kalo VW kodok jgn disepelekan (jadi inget Herbie fully loaded he2)..Kapan tuh (3tahun lalu) yg seri otomotif night drag race finalnya Skyline (punya sonic) Vs VW kodok n u know what skyline gagal nduluin VW kodok busyeet dah diapain aja tuh kodoknya..Kayaknya drag race emang bnyk faktor yg menentukan selain mesin n mobil..R/T (reaction time), start yg perfect, traksi mobil yg baik, ktrampilan driver dll..Setau ane kalo mobil 4 WD tuh startnya gas pol aja (nih kata sonic) itu tuh master drag race yg pake Nissan skyline 2 pintu (800Hp)..Soalnya mobil 4 WD tepatnya all wheel drive (bukan part time 4 WD) bisa ngatur traksi yg pas biar mobil langsung bisa "lari" walaupun power berlebihan di roda..CMIIW

Waktu tuh sonic beralasan dia memang ga bisa pake skyline 2 pintunya cz habis kecelakaan di sentul makanya dia pake skyline 4 pintunya (buat drag) yg katanya lebih berat terus power g sebesar skyline 2 pintunya..
