Spied : Nissan 350Z Mule

Nissan 350Z Mule - Cayman Competitor?

Look a little closer, though, and it’s obvious this ain’t no normal Z. Lines of matte-black tape conceal what appear to be welds in the roof and doors made to shorten the mule’s overall length from that of a production Z coupe. There also is the matter of the bulging don’t-quite-fit-right headlamps.

The shortened wheelbase and the bug eyes give this prototype the feel of a 3/4-scale Z—which could be a huge clue as to what’s concealed under the altered sheetmetal.

Rumors abound that Nissan is working on a production version of the rear-wheel-drive Urge coupe concept from the 2006 Detroit auto show. Whereas that concept had transparent lower door panels, a two-plus-one seating layout, a T-top roof, and an onboard video-game system controlled via the steering wheel and pedals, a production Urge would probably be more conventional to better battle small, sporty cars such as the Mazda MX-5, the Pontiac Solstice, and the upcoming BMW 1-series coupe.
But the performance sights may be aimed a bit higher for whatever this car is—the Nissan was seen testing alongside a Porsche Cayman. That fact could point to this mule’s being an early prototype for the successor to the current 350Z—or a smaller-engined variant such as a 300Z or 250Z.

Whatever it is, it’s clear the future’s looking mighty bright for Nissan enthusiasts. If it’s the next (or a different) Z, there’s no better coupe to benchmark than the Cayman, and if it’s a mule for a smaller model—we’d love a sports-car lineup with the Urge, 350Z, and GT-R.

Terlihat seperti 350Z biasa...
Urusan kencang, dua2nya kencang. handling top abiz n balance semua... Hanya cayman biasanya lebih perfect dibanding 350Z karena 40tahun pengembangan porsche di dunia sportcars(porsche 911)...
