Kalo ada yg nanya, "SEBENARNYA SEDAN APA YG JADI FLAGSHIP TOYOTA, SOALNYA KAN ADA BANYAK SEDAN LUX MEREKA?"

Mungkin ini jawabannya...........

TOYOTA CENTURY
Dengan bentuknya yg unik dan old fashioned, saloon ini jadi kendaraan anggota keluarga kekaisaran Jepang, politikus, juga PM Jepang.

Mesinnya 5000cc V12, paling besar di antara saloon lux Toyota, tapi tenaganya cuma 280PS Sesuai regulasi JDM (Japan Domestic Market)....

Waktu saya lihat di Metro TV, ada acara JALAN SANTAI yg tujuannya ke Jepang, presenternya sempat mampir ke Toyota MEGA-WEB, showroom dan wahana entertainment Toyota terbesar di dunia. Di situ presenternya sempat masuk dan mencoba duduk di kabin belakang Century, tapi yg saya lihat interiornya belum memakai trim kulit, namun menunya lengkap seperti limusin lain...............

Di dunia mobil ini kurang populer bahkan begitu juga di Jepang sendiri, soalnya yg pakai kalangan terbatas.

Kalo masuk sini pasti harganya mendekati Mercedes S-Class, mungkin hampir Rp 2 miliar, soalnya Legend saja Rp 1,185 miliar.........

Modelnya jelek bgt, ngga ada kesan mewahnya. Kalo klasik sih emang bener.

Jangankan harga OTR 2m, harga 600 - 800jt juga mikir2 dulu.

Justru itu, Toyota menghargai tradisi.............
Mobil kelas atas Jepang dari dulu memang bentuknya gini. Kalo yg modern seperti Celsior. Di sini Toyota ingin menunjukan betapa orang Jepang sangat menghargai tradisi.

kalo ngak salah mobil ini saya pernah baca di auto bild cuman lupa haraganya katanya setara ama maybach cmiiw.

bahkan di toyota jepang di toyota city (showroom toyota di odaiba kalo ngak salah) nya mobil lain boleh di masuk in (di duduk in di pencet tombol2 nya) cuman toyota century ini aja yang di beri tali ngak boleh di pegang di beri tempat khusus di depan.

First-generation Century(VG40)
Second-generation Century(GZG50)The Toyota Century is a large four-door limousine produced by Toyota mainly for the Japanese market. Production of the Century began in 1967 and the model received only minor changes until redesign in 1997. This second-generation Century is still sold in Japan, with some exports to Asian countries, notably Hong Kong where it is used as the official transportation for the Chief Executive.

The Century is produced in limited numbers and is built in a "nearly hand-made" fashion. It is often used by royalty, government leaders, and executive businessmen. The Century is comparable in purpose to the Austin A135, ZIS/ZIL, Chinese Red Flag, and Maybach limousines.

1st Generation (1967–1997)
The original Century was based on the 1964 Toyota Crown, which featured the 2.6 L V8 Toyota 3V engine. The 1967 crown was equipped with an upgraded version of this engine, the 3.0 L 3V. 1973 saw the introduction of the 3.4 L 4V, and the engine was once again changed to the 4.0 L 5V is 1982. Note that the 3V, 4V, and 5V do not refer to the number of valves in the engine; they denote models in the line of Toyota V engines. There is also a L-Type stretched version of the Century, length is 5270mm with a wheelbase of 3010mm.

The 1st generation Century remained largely untouched during its 30-year production run. Although minor cosmetic changes and engine upgrades occurred throughout its lifespan, the commercial longevity of the Century chassis is nevertheless impressive.

The Century received a complete redesign in 1997, although the new model was visually very similar to the old. The 1997 model also received an engine upgrade: it could be purchased with the 280 PS 5.0 L 1GZ-FE V12. The Century remains the first and only Japanese front-engine, rear-wheel drive production car equipped with a V12.

The Century has been Toyota's most luxurious model since its inception in 1967. In fact, it is placed above the Toyota equivalents of Lexus offerings in Japan. The Century is distinguished by different color options than the rest of the Toyota lineup.

Like other cars in the top of the luxury class, the Century is designed with a chauffeur in mind. Hence, the rear seats recline and the front passenger seat has a fold-down center section so that a passenger in the back may stretch his feet forward.

The Century is priced at ¥9,850,000 or approximately US$95,000 (as of 2005).

Although the Century is not exported outside Japan in large numbers, it is used frequently by officials stationed in overseas Japanese offices.

In contrast to other luxurious cars (such as the Maybach or a Rolls Royce), the Century has not been positioned and marketed as a sign of wealth or excess. Instead, the Century projects an image of conservative achievement. Marketing literature states roughly that, "the Century is acquired through persistent work, the kind that is done in a plain but formal suit." This image drove a good deal of the 2nd generation design as a traditional and tasteful update of the original.

European and American critics have noted that the 2nd generation Century is comparable with first-class German and British cars, but note that the design is mysterious, strange, and ugly.

Thanks bung Mpoezz atas infonya!

Ya, itulah uniknya desain Century. Walaupun orang bule bilang jelek, tapi Jepang tetaplah Jepang. Walaupun mereka (Japanese) bisa beradaptasi dengan berbagai bangsa dengan cepat, mereka tidak lupa akan tradisi sendiri. Walaupun orang Jerman punya Maybach dan British has Rolls-Royce, Toyota tetap mempertahankan desain luxury car has Jepang, lengkap dengan spion model tanduknya.....Seperti British mempertahankan elemen desain Rolls-Royce.

Mr. WP, I have some insider info from Japan, the Century will be Toyota's ultra-luxury brand, like Maybach is to Mercedes. :)

500 juta juga belom tentu laku kalo jual di sini. And kalo ada orang beli nih boil dengan harga 2 miliar lebih, pasti banyak yg bilang : "Ngga salah harganya segitu ? Apanya yg mahal ?"

sdh lama dijual ...bedanya dulu front bench jadi bisa ber enam dlm satu mobil

electric motor u power seat yg bgt besar ...spt u rolingdoor n kalo rusak ...betulkan di tukaung dynamo ...3speed auto gearbox kalo rusak dulu bawa ke udatimex sebelah hotel sahid (skrg da vinci) krn bikinan GM (th400)

di pro motor simpruk ada 1974 model n masih utuh n milik diktator suharto ...warna ijo solid asli ...hadiah dr japanese premier takeo fukuda

2009 model suka terliat di cawang ...milik rahmat gobel ...pearl black ...dia special order di auto2000 wahithasyim onroad wkt itu 2 milyard lebih (2.8 kalo tdk salah) ...govt fleet purchase division yg handle order dia

Ada pepatah mengatakan "selera tidak untuk diperdebatkan"..
Jadi biar saja orang Jepun menikmati seleranyaa itu.
Tapi faktanya bahwa Century itu tidak (kurang) digemari oleh bangsa lain selain Jepun, menunjukkan bahwa memang alas an orang Jepun beli itu semata karena "ini buatan Negara gue alias chauvinism"..

Beda ama Roll Royce, Bentley, Maybach, dll...ras bangsa lain juga bangga memakainya..
